Slomins alarm
Anybody have a problem with them? They installed my alarm system and it has never worked right since. At first the alarm kept going off all the time without reason. Then, the buttons for the code were jammed and I couldn't turn it on ever. They sent somebody 3 times to fix it and each time they called and said they had to leave bc nobody was home(which I was all 3 times). Each time when I asked them to come back they said they couldn't bc they were on a schedule and rescheduled for wks later. After the third time, I finally flipped out and cancelled. Now I got a letter stating that I owe the 3000 bc I cancelled my contract. I feel like they are in the wrong here. Is there anything I can do?

Re: Slomins alarm
We have had some trouble with them, but overall in the past 10yrs we are OK with keeping them. I won't go into our history with them, but like you've posted, it was mostly their customer service team and a not-so-smart technician who made the experiences negative for us.
From this point forward, I request a specific technician whenever we have a problem - his name is Eddie and he lives in Shirley. Whenever they try to schedule with anyone but him, I usually complain that no one else is competent enough to handle the situation (which has been true multiple times).
I also request a call-ahead feature so that when we set up a date/time, they call me 15min before they arrive so I can be sure I'm home and "available" to get the door in time. I swear, sometimes their techs ring and walk right away before I can put down the baby, gate the dog in a room, walk down the hall, and answer the door -- all of 20sec is too long for them to wait!!

Re: Slomins alarm
I had an issue with the alarm going off for no reason. We had a few technicians come by and they could never find the reason. Finally, after the hundreth time, one of their technicians realized the problem was with a faulty connector in the laundry room window.

Re: Slomins alarm
I already canceled with them bc I can't keep scheduling appointments for them to fix it. Now they are charging me a crazy amt of money- just don't think it's fair.

Slomins alarm
Do any of you know where I can get someone to install an alarm thats not hooked up to a central system? I just want to set it and have loud noise when it's tripped. I'd rather not pay a monthly service fee. Thanks for any advice!

Re: Slomins alarm
Our home was flooded from Sandy so we discontinued service with Slomin's but the alarm itself is still there. You can still set it and if someone tries to break in, it will go off. Only thing is that the police won't come since its not connected to a Slomins anymore.

Slomins alarm
Thanks - but I have no existing alarm in place. Don't all the companies come and do free installation as long as you sign a multi-year contract? I'd rather not go that route. Just want a bare-bones system installed with no connection. Any leads anyone? Thanks.
