East Meadow Moms - Kindergarten
Since we only have half day kindergarten, what are our other options?
Merrick Woods
St Elizabeth Ann Seton
Montessori
What else is out there? DD will be going to pre-k in the fall (at Kiddie Junction where she is now), but already stressing about what to do about Kindergarten!

My problem is that it's not even half day....it's 3 hrs....and not really even 3 hrs due to bus transportation.

if you do the am class maybe you could put your DD in a program or class in the afternoons.
right now DS is in nursery 2days a week, 2.5 hours each day. next year for prek he'll do 3 days about 3 hours each day and ill also sign him up for the district prek program 2 days a week. so for k im ok with him doing 5 half days.

My neighbor has a daycare & bus drops a child off there everyday..I figure it must be a kindergarten child. Maybe can find daycare to do balance of the day.

Are you looking for a full day program or something along with the kindergarten? My DD was in afternoon kindergarten and her old preschool 2 morning a week for enrichment. I had to pick her up at preschool at 1130 and she got the bus at 1230. Which side of Hempstead tpk are you?

trying to plan for that now. My kids go to merokee in merrick and they have an enrichment program and will pick the kids up from kindergarden or pre-k and bring them back there. I think i may do this. One of my girls will be going to pre k there next year.

My ds is in afternoon k in East Meadow. A lot of his friends go to daycare (big chief, Merrick woods, tutor time) and are bused to school and then picked up after school.
Montessori on n Bellmore road has full day k and after care til 6 p I think. My neighbors dd went there.

I am south of hempstead tpke (barnum woods elementary). I am really looking for a full day program. I don't want DD to have to go to 2 different programs and definitely not looking for daycare.

There are lot of after pre-school enrichment program where you can enroll your daughter. These enrichment facilities have best maths tutor which teaches kids how to have fun numbers. Kids will learn while having fun.

I met a woman who sends her child to HOly Family on Newbridge east meadow.
My twins are 2yrs so I have a few years. I am in barnum woods & will watch any child who needs help with daycare.

Oh but to answer your original questions, First Step on Stewart Ave in Hicksville offers a K enrichment class if you want to fill in the remainder of the day there. Not sure what part of EM you live in but if youre in Meadowbrook (like me!) its only a 5 min drive.
