Stocking up for storm
I don't go crazy. I make sure we have bread, milk, snacks and canned goods. I try to use up anything perishable. I also do some baking, today I've made mini apple pies and banana bread.

Re: Stocking up for storm
Nothing really.
I have three types of whiskey.
A bottle of pinot noir.
Beer.
Stuff to make homemade pizza.
Just gonna get drunk and eat pizza I guess.
I live right down the block from a supermarket, bodegas, etc. Not worried at all. But I like any excuse to get drunk and eat pizza.

Re: Stocking up for storm
I am going to stop tonight after work and pick up a couple of items so that I can spend most of the day cooking and baking if I am locked in. I usually cook a couple of things on Sunday for the week and I love cooking hearty meals when it's snowing. So far my list is:
lentil soup beef stew chicken soup banana bread

Re: Stocking up for storm
I went this morning. I needed stuff anyway. I figured if loss of power we will use natures refrigerator- put it in the trunk of the car. LOL Anyway, I got cold cuts, rolls, stuff to make chicken soup in the crockpot, onion dip, chips, yougurt, cottage cheese doubles, enternaman's chocolate lovers donuts, muffins, pancake mix, bread- I got it for free w/ a coupon, porterhouse steak for dinner on saturday night, rice pilaf, and shrimp cocktail. Now that I look back on what I bought, it was not the healthiest, I usually purchase very healthy things- guess if we are stuck in we may as well enjoy!

Re: Stocking up for storm
Nothing really. A couple of staples like bread and milk for the kids. A couple bottles of water. A jar of peanut butter and some granola bars... good for power outages. That's it.
I saw people on line today stocking up like Armageddon was coming. I don't get it. It's snow. You might be homebound for like, a day or two?

Nothing We won't be snowed in for 3 days I am sure. Plows will come through.
And even if we were- I am sure we could survive on our own body fat and what;s in the house!

Re: Stocking up for storm
Just need milk, bread, eggs and bananas. I do my grocery shopping on Saturdays, but there is enough stuff in my pantry, fridge and freezer (bar too) that we can survive a week without having to shop.
Might just pick up some chocolate too.

Re: Stocking up for storm
I stopped by the grocer because I wanted to get sausage for stuffing .. I figured a giant roast chicken is a nice stay in meal for Saturday.
Somehow cocoa powder, buttermilk, Nutella, cheese, oatmeal, eggs and butter snuck in for the ride. I figure if I'm potentially housebound.. I'm cooking. Now.. let's pray we don't lose power.

Re: Stocking up for storm
Lots of wine!
I don't go too crazy, I just make sure we're stocked on the things we usually have in the house: bread, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, granola bars, chips.
