Stocking question if you plan to have more kids...
Did you order extra ones?
I ordered pottery barn stockings this year and they are awesome. My SIL said she ordered two extra when her first daughter was born in case she had more kids.

No, because the one we got for DD#1 was personalized. It's funny that you bring this up today though because last night (2.5 years after DD#2 was born  ), I decided to buy the matching one from Pottery Barn.com, but it seemed they didn't have the same one any more. Well, right now all four of us have different stockings and that's cool with me...

I have the red and green velvet ones and grabbed some extras a while back at the outlet after Christmas.
BUT...last year righ before Christmas Potterybarn online had a free shipping and personalizing sale that made them about $5 or $7 so I got two personalized with a girl and boy name I knew were set in stone.

Ok.. but there are certain ones that are definitely more "boy" and "girl" ish
Here are the ones we currently have.. there is another with santa, reindeer, princess, and train.

I made the mistake of buying a personalized DS #1 one and i couldnt find the same one for DS#2
s0000...I am waiting (we might have a third) to buy an entire family of personalized ones

Jen- I got Frankie the pottery barn kid reindeer one from the same collection you have and its adorable! It DEF is gender neutral!

Nope, just crossing my fingers that they'll still make the ones we have. Hoping kid #2 will get the Moose one- it's sooo cute. Riley has the penguin.

so funny that you posted this becasue i was just thinking about this yesterday.
DH wants to order some nice stockings... we have one DS and I am hoping that we will try for another DC in about a year..... so I want to wait to get stocking like that until we are "complete" for sure.
I personally wouldn't buy any extra stockings ahead of time....

I plan to have more kids and didn't order extra stockings last year when we got DS's stocking. DS had the red and green velvet one from Pottery Barn.

I have been torturing myself over this too! LOL
I am due with #2 next week. I totally thought of buying the personalized ones, but we are not sure we are done with having kids yet. So, I guess we shall wait.

I don't think they have to be all matchy matchy...I got Michael the train one from the quilted collection that you have...when #2 comes, if they still have that collection then I'll get a matching one, but if not, I'm not going to get a whole new collection KWIM? I think it looks more fun to have different types of stockings hanging...my husband and I have the same kind of velvet stocking just reversed colors...

We have the ones from Lands End that are needlepoint. LL Bean has almost the same ones and we had no problem matching it last year for DD#2...I specifically bought ones that I knew we would be able to easily match so we could add them as our family grew.

I bought personalized ones for the three of us and I ordered an extra for a future child. I'll have it personalized at a shop (or maybe can even send it back to PBK for personalization) when the time comes.

We all have plain red stockings that I put our name on in glitter (very old school)
But I will say growing up myself and both my brothers all had different stockings and we were all very proud of them individually! And we thought ours was the best so I dont think they have to match!

While I don't celebrate Christmas, I do have stockings-- it's something I did as a kid, probably my parents created this to appease the jewish kids on Christmas morning. Needless to say I LOVED getting up in the morning and going through my stocking.
Anyway-- I got them for me and DH a few years ago from PB (they are blue/snowflake ones, so kinda Hanukahish) and this year I got the Ballerina one from PBK and it's the same size as the PB ones from a few years ago.
SOOO, I think you are safe if you wait-- especially if you are personalizing them.

I have the same stockings that you posted from Pottery Barn. I had two that I got about 3 years ago, for DH and I. This year, I ordered the one with the Gingerbread man on it for DS. Its been three years, and pottery Barn still has the same type of stockings. They usually have them every year and rarely change them up much. DS stocking is a little different then ours, but not much. I wouldn't order extra, since I like to get them personalized. Also, I would love to get the ballerina one if I have a girl.

I did last year, 2 with snowmen, 2 with santa....we wont be using them though, i ordered DD a new one this year with her name on it.
I dont know the right answer to this.
