Dr. San Roman, etc
We are getting ready to begin our second fresh cycle. We are tornw between LIIVF (been going there all along and they have the most insight to our case), RSNY (went for a consult and liked Dr. Stelling plus they are willing/able to do PICSI), or NorthShore.
Our only reason for going to northshore would be my husbands new insurance coverage...we could do 3 fresh cycles covered 80% and 15k total in meds. I hate to pick a clinic based on $ but the only place we get that benefit is northshore and with the cost of IVF it is playing a part in the decision. We would see Dr. San Roman, who I have only met once at a consult appt.
Can anyone tell me about your exp with Dr. SR? Is anyone seeing him at his new location? While his Smithtown office is being built he is working out of this really run down office in Hpg...its really hard to get a good vibe with him at that location but I am trying to learn abt him as a doctor and put that aside.
Soryy if this was a ramble...and thanks for any info you can share!

Re: Dr. San Roman, etc
I just started seeing him in Hauppauge. The office really isn't that bad, a little crowded (he moved in with an existing OB/GYN practice). It didn't really change my impression of him. Thought he was great, thorough and very patient orientated. Also very honest about why he left the old practice. Honestly, I have been at this a LONG time and wouldn't judge based on the office appearance. I have been in some really nice offices of useless doctors.
ETA: And NSUH at Manhasset isn't much better IMO, it's in the basement!

Dr. San Roman, etc
I left NSUH due to after several failed IVF transfers the RE refused to change my protocol. I finally got a BFP and almost 7 weeks preggo with RS of NY. I wouldn't base it just on cost and savings. I feel like the quality of care is the most important.

Re: Dr. San Roman, etc
I love Dr. San Roman. Out of all the Dr's at RS of NY; he was my favorite. Just wished I saw him more than I did the others.
Where in Smithtown is Dr. SR building his new office? Anyone know when it will be complete?
TIA!

I Loved Dr. San Roman!! He was one of the very best! In December he did both my b2b IUI's I am now having twins! I owe everything to him and the whole pratice at Rsofny! I knew he was no longer with Rsofny but I thought his new office is in Huntington. Is now smithtown? I def would recommend him to all!!!

So glad to hear many of you had good experiences with Dr SR! Congrats! He is currently practicing in Hauppauge but its just a swing space while he constructs the Smithtown office. He said the new location should be open in about 3 months.

Re: Dr. San Roman, etc
Dr. SR is terrific. I used RSNY for all my IF needs and he left on the middle of my last plan. Ended up finishing up with Dr. Stelling, who his also great. I love the nurses at RSNY, but they have gone through a lot of transition. My first doc there, Dr. Cain, left last year, and Dr. SR founded the practice, so with him gone I'm not really sure what direction they are going. There is one doc there who I would NOT recommended. For those in the know, could you please share why SR left? I tried to get a sense from the nurses before I moved on but they were tight lipped about it. Feel free to FM me!

Dr. San Roman, etc
I guess it's not politically appropriate to talk about money but he left bc of a lucrative salary offer

Re: Dr. San Roman, etc
From what I understand he left for the opportunity to open a suffolk branch of northshore LIJ. There were other details such as him being unhappy with the volume and pace of RSNY and lack of one one one interaxn w patients. Im sure there are other sides to the story but that's what I have been told.

I was told NS was snatching everybody up. They are trying to build their practice up and he got an offer he couldn't refuse

Exactly this. As far as rumors about him not liking the pace of RSNY etc. that really isn't true as he was the founder of this practice and it was his "design" so to speak

He actually said it to me directly himself at my consult that he didn't like the pace or lack of patient interaction. Please don't take this wrong not trying to come across argumentative but I got that info from him so its not a rumor. The reason I said there may be more info is that was his side of the story, who knows if something happened that made RSNY push him out. He also told me the promised him they would announce to patients where he was moving but when he actually left they changed their act and put in the contract that he cannot contact patients. So IMO it seemed like there was more going on.

No problem. I'm sure there are other sides to the story. Mis-choice of words, I apologize. I just do know that his initial intentions for leaving were bc of the offer he got and that the practice was surprised he was leaving bc it was his practice and design. But it definitely could've turned sour after that, I didn't pry any further for information.

Re: Dr. San Roman, etc
I think he is probably getting more and more questions about it so he is voluntarily opening up. I was surprised at how much he told me when I hadn't even asked (yet) lol.

What's so crazy is I heard it from a friend whose friend is a patient at RS of NY. She didn't even use this practice and no one told me at any of my appts. I actually asked one of the nurses the question. I was/am still bummed but Dr Stelling took over as my dr. I still go back and forth about staying (as you can see from my earlier post)

Re: Dr. San Roman, etc
Everyone has their own experiences so I don't intend to steer anyones direction but I had my 2nd consult with Dr SR today and I am now confident in my decision to go to him. He has looked into and thought about things that I have been trying to point out to the docs at LIIVF for months. I think he is thorough and that is what I need in my case. That said...I still don't know if it'll work so my attitude may change one way or the other after I see the process through. GL!
