1 to 2..2 to 3 was terrible. Definitely terrible 3's for us! I won't even tell you what they say about 4's!

I think she means number of kids?

I only have two but for me that was damn hard Chat Icon I can only assume that if I had three I have a better idea of what to do/not to do?

I'm sticking with two so I guess we'll never know Chat Icon

for me 1 to 2 was MUCH harder. 2 to 3 was pretty easy.

Not sure if it matters but #2 was a difficult infant/baby - colic for pretty much 9 months. #3 was an easy baby. And by the time #3 became a crazy/maniac toddler (she is 2 now) both boys were in school full time which helps with the day time. After school is tuff with all the running and dragging her everywhere but day time is easier!

My mom always said that going from one to two kids was soooo hard, a huge adjustment. But then having a third was no big deal. She was already use to dealing with more than one that adding another kid didn't really phase her that much.

I've heard the same thing from others. Chat Icon

What's easier 1 to 2 or 2 to 3?

Going from 0 to 1 was so hard. I found going from 1 to 2 so much easier.

Re: What's easier 1 to 2 or 2 to 3?

I only have 2. I personally found that going from 0 to 1 much harder than from 1 to 2.

I know many people wit 3 or more kids. The adjustment varies based on the temperaments of the babies, and the age difference. Also, how good of sleepers they are can be a huge factor!!!

My 2 are great sleepers, which is why we are stopping now...not rolling the dice again!Chat Icon

Well, 0 to 1 kid was HARD for us! I almost lost my mind. 1 to 2 kids was easy breezy for us. The baby fit right in & our adjustment was so easy. Reading previous posts, crazy how everyone has different experiences though.

I agree, going from 0 to 1 was the most difficult for us. 1 to 2 was crazy but not so bad. We have yet to do 2 to 3! But I'm curious to hear others' opinion on that too.

None of the above...0 to 1 was probably the most difficult thing I've done in my life! It's not like adding the others was simple but the way I've described it is that with one everything you do becomes a big hassle, with two it's only slightly more of a hassle...the hassle doesn't double. Chat Icon Same with the 3rd.

My girls are only 1.5 years apart; I didn't think it was very hard back then but I did find it very monotonous and lonely especially because I SAH.

In some ways having the 3rd was easier than having the 2nd...my oldest was 5 and in K, the middle was 3.5 and in nursery, so I had a lot of time for the baby. Also, #3 had to be THE best baby on the planet...that helped. Now, two years later, things are nuts with all the running around...quite the opposite of monotony, though!

Chat Icon my dd is an amazing sleeper and DH and I are sooo worried that if we go for a second, he/she will be a terrible sleeper! Glad to hear you can get 2 good sleepers! And I totally agree, I wouldn't chance a third LOL

For me going from none to one was an easy adjustment. But going from one to two has been hell. It didn't help that DS2 was colicky and DS 1 had a difficult time with the new addition. I always wanted three but now I am not sure. I was just wondering how everyone else adjusted to three. In one sense, I figure it couldn't be worse.

I thought going from 0 to 1 and 1 to 2 was pretty easy. We adjusted very well to parenthood. There are definitely tough days but overall we are very lucky. If we do decide on a 3rd, ds1 will most likely be in kindergarten and ds2 will be in nursery school so I think it would go smoothly.

0 to 1 was the hardest. 2 to 3, the easiest. You're already knee deep. What's one more? Chat Icon

I only have two-- but I am guessing 2 to 3 is the easiest because you are already used to juggling and not having it be all about 1 kid, etc. 1 to 2 was not easy for me...

Re: What's easier 1 to 2 or 2 to 3?

I was SOOO scared going from 1 to 2. It's hectic and busy and I truly have little time to think or breathe, but I kind of thrive on chaos so I love it. I have heard adding more children after you already have 2 is easy breezy bc you're used to the madness already.

(I really really really want a third in about 2 years. We'll see!)

0 to 1 was hard. But for me going from 1 to 2 has been very difficult. But i dont adjust well to change LOL. In the morning its much harder getting two kids ready, going out to stores etc is harder. When one of the kids gets sick the other is getting it too. Its really just little things. For me I could never handle 3 thats why i got my tubes tied hahahhhhahahah

but I see parents all the time with 2, 3, 4 kids and I truly envy them.Chat Icon

There are many factors to consider. Are you a working mom or stay-at-home? What are the differences in ages? How old are YOU? I've heard from friends that the 3rd puts you over the edge! I would love a 3rd but I started a little later and my two kids are close in age. Plus I'll be working full-time again and I think I'd ose my mind with a 3rd :)

I have 2 and going from 1-2 was way easier then 0-1. I hope to maybe have a 3rd in the next 2 years or so, but i'm scared to death!

Re: What's easier 1 to 2 or 2 to 3?

I contemplate whether I'm done or to go for #3 daily. I have to say, only on these boards to I ever hear that 2-3 is easier than 1-2 and I'm curious how that is. IRL many of my friends have 3 - some have infants and some have older children. They all say - if you are on the fence - don't do it (not meaning they regret it because none of them do - of course you would NEVER regret a child but, meaning it's a lifestyle change and a life long comitment and not easy so unless you really want it don't do it). According to them, it's a big change.

Re: What's easier 1 to 2 or 2 to 3?

for us, going from 0 to 1 was easy, although he was a hard baby. (we had been together for 9 years before we had our son so i think that helped).

1 to 2 has been easy. Juggling act for sure, but pretty smooth for us. I'm amazed at how easy it was and how fast it went. Even though ds#2 had reflux, colic and everything else under the sun (after 3 months it was cake and he was such a good baby). ds#1 was 3 1/2 years old when he was born and was so patient and understanding. I think him being older definitely helped.

We'll see how 2-3 goes one day. Chat Icon

0-1 was the hardest for me so far! 1-2 was a breeze - they are 3.5 years apart. I'll find out in a month how 2-3 is. I am already stressing about how I'm going to cook for the other two and lug a newborn to their activities!

Re: What's easier 1 to 2 or 2 to 3?

Going from 0 to 1 has been much harder than going from 1 to 2. DS1 was not an easy baby. He needed to be held 24/7 for the first 6 months. There are 3.5 years between my boys. DS1 is wonderful with DS2 and is very understanding if I need to tend to DS2's needs. DS2 has been a very good baby so far, but I have a feeling he'll be into everything once he's really mobile. I was nervous about the adjustment, but it really has been a smooth transition. We plan to have a 3rd one day. I hope it won't be bad going from 2 to 3, but I'm definitely nervous about it since DH and I will be outnumbered. Chat Icon
