none of my issues are life threatening so i feel like a whiny ***** getting blue about them

for example..i have migraines. ulcers. ibs. sinusitis.

so if i am not having a migraine...my sinuses are killing me. if my sinuses are okay..i have ibs issues. if i am not in the toilet..i am taking meds for ulcers.

seriously...lol and i am not even 40 yet.

is there a way that you stay positive and not be a negative nancy complainer? would love to hear feedback to be a better more pleasant person lol!!! tia!

to anyone with multiple health issues

I just stop complaining and sharing all of my aches, pains and worries with others.
I know I dont want to hear it from others so I make sure I don't do it to them.

Re: to anyone with multiple health issues

I don't know. I have a lot of issues, trhankfully none of them life threatening - SIX herniated discs (started when I was 18 and basically ended my lifelong love affair w. dancing), fibromyalgia, migraine, bad alleriges (skin, stomach, respiratory), chronic sinusitis.

I find that when something is new, I have a harder time dealing with it, but then I just have accepted certain things. I recently (as of yesterday) started a nasty flare up of fibromyalgia. I really just honestly try to 1) live within my limits and 2) Do something about it. I have my migraines under control with vitamins, fibromyalgia usualoly under control with adequate sleep and night muscle relaxers, I take my allergy meds, and I also have altered my lifestyle and the products I use to not flare up my allergies and skin conditions.

I'm very action oriented. I think that helps. Sometimes the hardest part of having any kind of health issue is feeling helpless, but there is almost always SOMETHING you can do. I can't fix my herniations (well I guess I could with surgery) but I CAN take supplements for pain management, i CAN get adequate sleep, take my meds, make sure I sleeo in a good position, etc. I can't change the skin issues I have, but I CAN make sure I'm using the right soap, I can avoid foods that trigger it.

I honestly think that's my best advice, to really try to DO something about it. ZFor Migraine, findour your triggers, and take supplements or meds for prevention (mine are 95% better with supplements). For IBS, you can keep a food journal so you can avoid triggers or start an antiinflammatory diet or supplement, etc etc.

Re: to anyone with multiple health issues

Gosh I WISH I knew! I'm good for a few weeks and then I kind of just go postal and it's usually at my husband bc the pain gets so bad.

I'm 26, and I have severe nerve damage in my arms and legs from a bulge in my neck, I've tried everything but major surgery and I'm trying to suck it up as long as I can. Thats from a car accident in 09, and I have severe back pain as well, but they can't seem to find anything "wrong" with it.I have severe migraines, but I'm getting them under control for the most part. I have stomach issues, but I'm trying the probiotics route, hopefully I see some changes once I find the right one.

But honestly, living in pain sucks! The only reason my husband can deal with me is bc he gets it, he's 29 and just got a double lumbar fusion with decompression, bc he couldn't live with the pain from our accident. I try to suck it up and not talk about it, but it gets the best of me sometimes, and pain pills are not an option in my life, bc I see how dependent my mother is on them and I won't do it for as long as possible..

Chat Icon wish I had better advice! But if u ever need to vent, fm me, I'm a good listener!

Perspective always helps too.

It sucks that I have a constant sinus infection, cant breathe, cant taste and need surgery for it every 3 years or so - but there are a lot of people worse off than me.

My knee hurts when walking, but not so much that I can't walk yet.

Getting a PE and DVT was a huge deal, and I was depressed about it. BUT, it could have KILLED me, I was lucky - so what is to be depressed about?

It's all about perspective. It could be worse, so accept it and let it go.

You both should try to go gluten free for 2 weeks. It is hard at first but worth the experiment.

I too over the last 7 YEARS have had multiple issues. MIgraines, IBS, ulcers, psoriasis, aches & pains (I walk around like I am 80). Fatique that just comes on for no reason. I thought it was all normal except for the skin and stomach issues. TUMS would never leave my purse and I had steroids for my skin issues that I would not take do to nursing. MISERABLE majority of the time (btw gas was a very normal part of the day for).

I went gluten free for 2 weeks and I had NEVER felt better. Attempted pizza at the end and it all came back full swing within hours. It was horrendous.

It may not be your problem but worth a try if you feel like this day to day.

Was tested for multiple food allergies. Nothing. Just a lot of intolerance issues,

I feel the same too, but its been better post partum. Not complaining about it is all good and fine but it never helped me feel better. With the stomach and fibromalgia issues, I had to go from dr to dr until I was able to develop a solid plan for managing everything. Not until then was I more functional and less miserable . Keep searching!

to anyone with multiple health issues

I was diagnosed with breast cancer last February, plus indolent Lymphoma. That sure put everything else in perspective in a heartbeat. After about ten seconds of feeling shaky I decided that complaining was not going to do me one iota of good, so I haven't. I have been determined to stay positive and not allow anything to make me depressed or sad. Went through surgery, chemo and radiation and am recovering. My last mamo and sono was clear, so I am hoping for the best and getting on with my life. To add to the fun, I came down with Lyme Disease a week after my first round of chemo. I thought the aches and pains were part of the treatment. Luckily DH was smarter and dragged me to a walk in clinic after one knee swelled up and I could no longer get upstairs because it hurt so much.

Somewhere in my reading about breast cancer online I ran across a woman who commented "No one promised you tomorrow" and I realized it was true. No one can make that promise, so I am trying to appreciate my todays.

I have also learned a bit of humility. I no longer get irritated by people who hold me up by walking or moving slowly as I have realized they may well be very sick, just as I was throughout chemo (nasty stuff that chemo!). Some days I could bearly move and I know I annoyed people behind me in lines at the market when it took forever to unload my cart to check out and then to pack everything in very light bags so I could lift them. Before, the old me might have stood chaffing at the bit and throwing grumpy looks at someone doing that. Now, if I notice someone moving slowly, especially if they are young, I wonder if they are sick. I watch them quietly with compassion instead of annoyance, and offer to help if they look like they might need some.

Re: to anyone with multiple health issues

I'm all for looking for alternative ways to manage your health issues.

Everyone around me thinks I'm a nut, but I recommend things like yoga.

I go to Bikram-style which is why people think I'm insane, but I really think it helps.

If anything, you are getting your mind off your issues for 90 minutes. If you can handle that, you can handle anything IMO.

And despite what one may think, you really don't have to be a yoga rockstar to attend. Most people are not, self-included.

I also agree that complaining does nothing except to make you feel worse.

In fact, I think that this is contagious and why many people become so miserable to the point of often feeling sick to their stomach.
