Hershey, Great Wolf, Dutch or Sesame?

I'd like to do a weekend trip to one of these places this summer and we've never been to any of them.

My 2 boys will be 5 years old and 1 1/2.

Which one do you like the best? what's your vote?

There isn't much in Hershey we thought for like under 6-7 so sesame or even Dutch wonderland would be my recommendations... We haven't done great wolf yet

It's an amusement park geared towards toddlers. At 2, DS was able to go on 90% of the rides last year. DD was almost 5 last trip and was able to go on everything.

For me - Hershey isn't worth it yet because they won't be that much both kids can do.

Hershey, Great Wolf, Dutch or Sesame?

I would pick dutch wonderland or great wolf for that age. We have been to all of those places.\

ETA: Dutch Wonderland is both a water park and amusement park that is perfect for ages 1-8. I would say ideally to go at ages 2-6. It is near the Strasburg RR and there are also outlet malls across the street. It is about 40 minutes from Hershey. If you go, stay at the Best Western Eden resort. It is fantastic and we loved it. It is quaint and charming.

Hershey is an amusement park, water park, zoo, factory tour, and dining establishment. They youngest I would take my kids there is age 3 or just about to turn age three. The kiddy rides are spread through the park. The park is very hilly. It is a lot of fun but better suited for ages 4 and up. I am not going to say there is nothing there for younger children, but in my opinion an older child would enjoy it more and if this is a one time thing, I would wait until your youngest is a little older. It is good for ages 4-65. You could spend a few days here as a vacation or combine it with a trip to DW. We did a combo DW/Hershey park trip last summer when my kids were almost 3 and 5 and it was a perfect trip. I wrote a review so you can look up my name here in parenting.

Sesame Place is an amusement park and part water park. There is a wave pool and there is the count's splash down areas. They have a character breakfast although we have not been to it. Some people complain that it is not as clean as other parks but we did not find it that way at all. I think it is perfect for ages 1-5. We have been here twice and if your kids are into the characters it is great. They have a cute parade. For me it is a day trip rather than a vacation destination.

Great Wolf Lodge is an indoor water park. In my opinion I like it as a fall or winter trip, but they do have some (small) outdoor stuff too. It is fantastic for ages 8 months -11 years old. We have been here three times and plan on returning again. I love the GWL. It has an indoor water splash down, multiple slides, a big kids pool, adult pool/spa area, lazy river, larger water slides, large wave pool, baby slides. It has story time at night, magic quest, arcade, spa for kids, bowling, golf, crafts. I love it. It is fantastic, but just make sure to book when they have a promo other wise it is insanely expensive.

I would do DW or Sesame.
I LOVE Hershey, but, not much for the 2 year old to do.
I haven't been to Great Wolf.
If your kids like water areas/rides, then, Sesame wins my vote. We had a great time there last summer.

Re: Hershey, Great Wolf, Dutch or Sesame?

There is plenty to do in Hershey. I have been going for years, my DD was 2.5 and 3.5 and not a tall child btw, and went on so many rides I can't count. There are shows and all kinds of entertainment. However, the park is big and all the kid rides are spread out and it's easy to miss rides if you don't cover the entire park. If you want a park that has all kiddie rides together, DW is the better bet.

I wouldn't do Great Wolf in the summer, since it's indoors. I would want to be outdoors.

Re: Hershey, Great Wolf, Dutch or Sesame?

We have been to all of those. Without a doubt the best is Hershey. We took our son there at 18m the first time and he loved it. There is a lot of smaller kiddie rides towards the front of the park and my son and his cousin who was 3y1m the first trip loved the water area.

Great wolf is . Kinda pricy and its okay but we didn't love it.
Dutch wonderland is nice and you can buy a Hershey combo ticket giving you one day at each park. But it was kinda dated imo, however it was the last amusement park we went to after, disney, Hershey, sedans, etc, so that could be why I felt that way. However it is totally geared towards your kids ages. Ds was 3.5 when we went and he had fun but he talks more about his Hershey visit on that trip, than dw.

And sesame was nice, but not as clean as the other parks and ds was never into those characters so he was not impressed

Totally false. There are several kiddie areas at Hershey, and plenty to do there. At least 15 rides they can go on spread around the park. I have been taking my kids since my daughter was around 3, and she has always had a blast.

We have been to Sesame, small and a rip off for what it is unless you get a group rate ticket. Kids like it though.

Great Wolf, completely different vacation than either of those. No rides, just water rides. Great place, wouldn't go in the Summer. The waterpark is about 100 degrees, no joke. We had to go outside to cool off! LOL

ITA. Hershey is great even for the young ones. We took DD at 2 years old and 3 years old and she went on a RIDICULOUS amount of rides!

There were so many for her.

This is what I was going to say but edited myself a bit. Mostly b/c I have been going to Hershey since I was a child. And having gone back with my DD 2times now, there are so so many rides that young kids can go on. You have to walk through the entire park to get to them but it's such a pretty, nice, clean park that it's a treat IMO.

DW, having gone my first time there when my DD was 2.5, I thought it was nice but I was not impressed. Much prefer Hershey for various reasons.

Sesame, never been and never want to go. Same with Great Wolf. From what I have heard, I have no desire to go but Hershey I can do every year. My DD still talks about each trip to Hershey and nothing beats it for a lfairly local family trip IMO.

We dislike Sesame too. We went when DD was 1 and 2 and after that second trip said never again.
