Extremely Itchy feet
Anyone else in their 3rd trimester and extremely itchy? Last night I was up half the night scratching my feet. I felt like I wanted to scratch my skin off ( today my skin is burning and a bit cut up from scratching so much). I called my doctor and she said if it gets worse they want to check to call and they'll send me to l&d to get checked. Of course at 3:30am while I was up scratching I googled it and saw that it could be linked to a problem with the liver. Cholestasis is what it was called.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Itchy feet
I was extremely itchy with my twins, I was miserable. For me it wasn't anything serious just a symptom of pregnancy. Aveno lotion and bath was with oatmeal helped a little. My dr said I could take Benedryl but I only took it once or twice. It also helped when dh would massage me with the lotion. Feel better its the worst

Re: Itchy feet
I have extremely itchy feeling inbetween my toes mostly.. and I scratch them to the point of cracking.. but DH thinks its more excema and dry skin rather than anything pregnancy related since it is something that happened before as well. but I think its worse now being preggers.. it's soo irritating!

Extremely Itchy feet
My belly was really itchy last week. My OB said to use a cortizone cream or Aveeno. Said its normal.

Extremely Itchy feet
For the first time this morning my belly was extremely itchy! I put some cream on it and it went away. But I've never had that before!

Re: Extremely Itchy feet
I had cholestasis with my last pregnancy (waiting to see if it shows up wiith this one)
I had very itchy feet, palms and chest (also all over but those were the most intense). No rash. Its a debilitation itch. Hot water made it worse. Gets worse at night. It is not like a normal pregnancy itch. It will be on feet and palms mostly.
Mine was awful and i would use a bristle brush to scratch my feet to the point my skin was peeling off.
If you think you have it, request a bile acid test and liver function test
It,does often start in 3rd trimester How many weeks are you?
Your post sounds like mine when I started itching with DS

Re: Extremely Itchy feet
definitely sounds like Chloestadis to me I would definitely get the check I have the same symptoms you around the same time and was diagnosed at 36 weeks. my ob kept thinking it was regular pregnancy itch but I kept doing research and insisting on a blood test and it came back positive. I would go get a blood test

Re: Extremely Itchy feet
I called again but the doctor on call said that in cholstasis is generally starts on the belly and then will be itchy in other areas and she told me to take benedryl and see if it goes away in a few days. I dont know, I feel like every website I read says its generally on the feet and hands and thats where i have it (well my hands arent as bad as my feet but they feel a bit itcy as well) but thats not what the dr on call said. I have an appointment on monday so I guess i'll wait until then but I wish they would send me for a blood test so I know ugh

Many drs are awful with this condition. They just dont diagnosis it well at all. I diagnosed myself and finally confirmed with bloodtest.
Even then they gave me wrong meds.
My new ob is amazing and has already do e baseline blood work before I even got a chance to ask him.
That info also sounds wrong to me
Def push for test bc this condition can be harmful to baby and try to deliver from 36-38 weeks
Check out this FB group and definetly ask some questions there. They will help you Icp cares
