No storm door
If you do not have a storm door, do you regret it? I found a front door that I LOVE but think it I have a storm door, it will take away from its "beauty"

Re: No storm door
We live in a cape and during the summer it can get H-O-T!!! We have a storm door on our front door, but not the back. We're thinking of installing one this summer to have that nice cross breeze which could help cool the house down until central AC is an option

Re: No storm door
I can't imagine not having a storm door - I need that extra barrier between me and whoever's knocking on my front door.
My SIL does not have a storm door and it's a non-issue for them.

Not at all! We love our front door, lots of light from the glass and 2 side lights.

No storm door
I don't think we are going to add a storm door. I can open up plenty of windows to get fresh air.

Re: No storm door
No storm door here. No regrets when we changed out our old door either.
If we have the windows open, chances are we have all the french doors open (4 sets along the back of the house) and if I'm looking for a more substantial cross breeze, we'll open the front door (despite not having a storm door) being that it's directly inline with one set of french doors. I'm in an eternal Block Island state of mind.

No storm door
When we got our new door installed the contractor wasn't going to put a storm door in. Dh didn't care but I new it would drive me crazy. We went for an all glass one and I love the look and it doesn't detract from the wood door. I don't know if you have pets but I like to have that 2nd barrier and I like leaving the wood door open to get more light in the house.

Re: No storm door
We just ordered a new front door and decided on no storm door because I thought it would detract too much from the beauty of the door. We went with a custom fiberglass door, but if we did wood we would have needed a storm door to protect it (ours is not a covered entry).

No storm doors here. I don't care for the way they look and I do feel they detract from the entrance. For fresh air, I open the windows.

Re: No storm door
We have a full glass storm door on our front door. Our pets love to sit in the sun when the front door is open and look out into our neighborhood. If I had a really beautiful front door I might change my mind.

Re: No storm door
The home we bought did not have a storm door - probably for the reason you state - the entry and door are very nice looking. That said, it's a pain - I've never lived without a storm door and I hate the all or nothing of just a front door. That said, I haven't put a storm door in because I love the look we have now...ahhhhh decisions/decisions... æsthetics over functionality

No storm door
When we bought the house, we did not have a storm door and I hated it. I light being able to leave the door open in the spring, summer, and fall. Our storm door is all glass - so it does not take away from the door itself.

Re: No storm door
We just got a storm door after not having one for 7 years. I'm so glad we made the purchase. I love the added security feel, the light it brings in, the extra insulation it provides.
