Re: Getting a second dog
I thought about a second dog for a while, and instead of jumping in and adopting a second, I am fostering a dog through a breed rescue. Although I love my foster so much, and he is good company for my dog, I would have been hit with $$ vet bills because my foster is heartworm +. The other thing is, I am now living out of state and would like to fly home more often than I do now, which is difficult with 2 dogs. My dog flies well on the plane, but I can't take 2 dogs on the plane and boarding one or both of them is expensive. I am also in an apartment alone, so all of the walking/feeding/bills falls on me alone. I love my foster, he is a great dog, but this has opened my eyes to holding off of the 2nd dog for now, until I have a house in the future.
Maybe you can foster a dog for a while and see how everything works out and if it does you can either adopt your foster or adopt another dog of your choosing. I think its a great way to try it out.
