Gynecolgical problems - need recommendation
I am suddenly having extremely heave periods. To the point where I can't leave my home. When I called my drs office last month, the nurse told me it was probably early menopause. I am in my early 40s. I have done fertility treatments and had my hormones tested monthly last year, and they were showing low FSH so I am not convinced that is what it is. I spent this whole weekend going through tampons and pads every half hour, and having to leave restaurants after an hour of leaving home. If I call my drs office, they will tell me there is nothing they can do and I am concerned. I can try them again, but am turned off at the lack of offering to see me last month. Does anyone have a recommendation of someone else I can try?

I'm not sure where you live. I'm in nassau county and I use a group that has two locations, one in great neck and the other in Woodbury. It's called Preferred Women's Health with doctors Henry prince, Harvey marchbein, Jeanine Morris rush, Melissa Oppenheim and Cindy tobin. I have been a patient with them for four years and all of the doctors are amazing, kind, and listen to your concerns. I highly recommend them.

There is nothing they can do? That doesn't sound right at all..If you are having that much bleeding it is not okay. I work for a gyno in Suffolk county and I know there are procedures that can be done for that if it is an ongoing thing! And that much bleeding should be checked out regardless. You can FM if you would like the name of the dr's I work for

Every half hour?? I'd go to the ER to be honest. I was soaking through regular tampons every hour. It turned out to be fibroids. Please see a doctor asap. Good luck

Re: Gynecolgical problems - need recommendation
You spoke to the nurse, not the doctor.
I would not stand for that. No one should ever be diagnosing you over the phone for this kind of issue, let alone someone without a MD behind their name.
I know someone right now who is out on leave because she ended up needing surgery because of this kind of concern.
Sorry if I sound a little crazed. I get super annoyed when I hear the woman behind the counter stories.
I would also let the actual MD know that this is what was said to you by their staff.

I really can't believe that they wouldn't have you come in to be examined .
I see Dr Pilliterri in Deer Park - not sure where you are located.

Thanks all
I called back and was told by a different nurse I SHOULD have been seen. I have an appt. After this, I am going to search for a new facility/dr, as this whole thing turned me off in a big way, but in the meantime, I am being seen.
