maybe a crazy question....
is it ok to chew sugar free gum? i was just chewing some and realized it has artificial sweetners. then i googled and of course all sorts of scary stuff came up. do you girls chew gum??

maybe a crazy question....
My doctor made me throw mine out right in front of him at my very 1st appointment. It has aspartame which is a huge NO-NO.
They sell aspartame free gum which is sweetened with xylitol. Sugar free, gluten free, and safe. I buy the Epic brand. Very tasty.

Even before I was pregnant I didn't eat anything with artificial sweeteners. I don't even care if a doctor says it's "safe". Eating chemicals just doesn't sit well with me.

I don't think this is the norm, quite honestly. From being on these boards, I have seen that the basic consensus from dr's is "everything in moderation".
I even had a diet soda last week

thanks girls. i'm feeling very guilty about chewing that gum today for like an hour before i realized it could be bad :( lesson definitely learned :( :(

I won't chew regular gum b/c of this even when not pregnant. Try Glee brand it is all natural.

I haven't had gum in a very long time (chewing it gives me gas in my stomach, I hate that feeling) but I probably would have sugarfree gum without even thinking about it if I felt like it. I guess it's not the best thing, I don't know, but I feel like the amount of artificial sweetener in one piece of gum would be very small.... if you're chewing packs a day that would be different of course.

I don't...I normally don't but wanted too because I heard it helps remove sugar from your teeth to prevent cavities (only the sugarless kinds do this) but am going to wait till AFTER baby
