STILL pregnant! VBAC rant...
41 weeks 6 days
I just cannot believe this $hit. Me and the baby are as healthy as can be however my so called VBAC friendly OB ( ICAN suggested) is not so friendly anymore and is making it extremely stressful right now. I worked SO hard for this and now he wants to force me to induce with Pitocin (I been at 1cm 50% the last 2 weeks but baby is extremely low and in perfect positioning ) He wont even let me try to the Foley bulb to start dilation before the Pitocin. He wants to go straight to Pit which i have a horrible gut feeling about and meanwhile he told me in my 1st visit he would NOT do unless i was half way through labor and stalled for a long time and would give just a drop to get things going again. When we were arguing about induction dates ( this last tues vs next Tues) we decided to compromise on Friday at 42 weeks and suddenly he wanted to do it next Tuesday, If he was that worried why wouldnt he settle for the earlier date? I think he didnt want his weekend off ruined. He knew if he sectioned me Tuesday Id be out of the hospital by friday so I just think there is some BS on his part. I am glad I bought myself an extra week but honestly I am expecting the unexpected ( for labor not to start by then) because that seems to be the safer bet at this point . I am terrified of Pitocin because i know how risky it is for VBAC and will more then likely lead to a c/s anyway. Im scared I will have a nervous breakdown come Tuesday because I know I am doomed into being forced walking into one of the biggest regrets of my life. I contacted my local ICAN and was a lil baffled they seemed all for pitocin and other VBAC groups I just get bashed for not having a homebirth so it's a no win.
BTW I just realized he based my duedate on a 28 day cycle but since i have PCOS on a good month I have a 38 day cycle so I honestly believe my DD should of been 3 days ago not 13 days ago but I highly doubt he will take that into reconsideration at this point.
I just dont know what to do or think at this point- all I know is I refused to be BSed and bullied into scare tactics however I am still terrified of losing my VBA2C battle I worked so hard for

Re: STILL pregnant! VBAC rant...
I am so sorry that you are going through this! I will also be trying for a vbac but its only after 1 c section. I was told I will be allowed to go 41 weeks only and no pitocin unless I am already in labor (I do not want any pitocin bc I feel that was the beginning of the reasons why I needed a C the first time)
I am sure I am not as well versed as you but if you have had 2 sections I would be really apprehensive about having pitocin or an induction
Good luck!!

You are completely right, they are both not in the best interest of me or the baby especially when nothing is wrong. That is why I am so upset that my supposed VBAC OB is trying to force those on me when it's well known those are very risky with VBAC. All i can do is hope for a miracle that I go into labor by this weekend because I really dont think I can willingly walk into an induction knowing what i know.

Re: STILL pregnant! VBAC rant...
hope you make it! I am trying for vbac too and my dr told me absolutely nothing to induce except the bulb, she said pitocin was an absolute no no unless mid labor and stalled and cytotex and cervadil were also not even to be considered. I think pitocin you might as well sign up for an emergency c-section from all I have read. .
also re due dates. . I DEF hear you on that. My hospital tried to change my DD by ten days after my first tri Ultrasound and it would have put me at a date when I still had AF. I begged my OB not to change it bc I knew I would end up with an automatic c-section. I hope your labor starts TODAY!!!! Hang in there!

Re: STILL pregnant! VBAC rant...
I remember with DD#1 (nearly 16 yrs ago); DH and I and the next morning BAM...contractions started. I was over 40 weeks and anxious. We didn't decide to thinking that would bring on labor it just so happen.

You hit the nail on the head! I was told from the start worst case scenario a drop of pit mid labor if stalled and NOW he wants to start pitocin from the get go- i might as well hand my uterus over on a platter and kiss it goodbye!
There is no way around it but it is going to get ugly at my appointment tomorrow especially now that him and his staff decided they can act very rude & nasty to me because they dont like I am rebeling against his demands. I dont care if he doesnt like it or have the patience for it but he is going to have no choice in inducing without trying a foley bulb first . And if he wants to really push it , he can find me an alternative office for me to get NSTs so he can drop me and ill head to the hospital when i am ready to push. Or so i hope i am that brave lol

STILL pregnant! VBAC rant...
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sending you labor vibes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure you know this, but anything you can do to be active is helpful at this point... I rode the train (standing, no one would get up) for 2 hours and then went into labor. Maybe you could ride the train to the masseuse the pp suggested :) Good luck, and stay strong!

Re: STILL pregnant! VBAC rant...
I feel your pain! I went to 41w4d with my third baby.
Exercise ball to help you get that baby on your cervix (I believe that and sex got me to 5cm at my 41w appt). And nipple stimulation! I went into labor 3 hours later! Release those labor inducing hormones!
All in all (and after trying everything!) I think you go when you are ready. If you had long cycles your body may not be ready. I wish the dr would take that into consideration but they do what they are trained to do. Maybe if you ripen before your induction, you can just get a little pit to start the contractions. That's what happened with my second at 41w3d. I was 3cm and 80% when I went in for induction and had a couple hours of pit and made them shut it off. My body took over the show, and the contractions were so much more bearable off the pit.
Labor vibes and good luck!

STILL pregnant! VBAC rant...
Non preggo crashing.... My sister had a midwife assisted homebirth at over 42 weeks. She wasn't a VBAC, but was a first time mom. I would hang in there for what you want. If the baby looks good and you are healthy, I wouldn't let yourself get bossed around, no matter how nasty the dr office gets! Good luck!!!

STILL pregnant! VBAC rant...
I don't know if you are willing to try it or not, but I know of 6 people that have done this and they went into labor and delivered vaginally. Take 2 tablespoons of castor oil very quickly (tastes awful) and chase it down with a reese's cup and a dr. pepper. You have to be at or past your due date for it to work. Everyone I know went into labor within the same day. Midwives also recommend this method to bring on labor. If you are serious about going into labor on your own, I would most defiantly try it even though it tastes bad and gives you runs for a short period of time.

IDK about anything you're really talking about but I will say that if your doctor was pro you having it your way and this far into it is wanting to do something else, perhaps it's for the health of you and the baby in the long run.

I kind of feel the same way. I'm 39 weeks and PRAYING for a VBAC. I have very VBAC-friendly doctors but there is a point where it becomes very risky and I trust that they know this better than me and we can make a decision together when the time comes whether or not a VBAC is still in the cards.

Re: STILL pregnant! VBAC rant...
I am not letting this go to 43 plus weeks if that is what you are thinking. I would never chance anything if my baby was proven to be in danger- I would let them knock me out and cut me open then and there without thinking twice! But I am just saying OBs do BS woman for their own convience sake and I am more educated from my past experiences in what to take seriously as a reason to have a c-section.

Can you hire a doula to help advocate for you? I hear they're great at advocating your birth plan

I suggested this before (in a previous thread) but I don't think she was/is able to. But you are correct, at least I hope so :) This time we hired doulas for this reason (to have a vbac and a new practice that is very pro vbac)
OP, I hope you trust your OB at this point...go with your gut but at the least make peace with whatever happens. As long as you and baby are healthy

It's not JUST about the baby though- there are dangers for YOU as well.
Believe me, I get it, My 2nd DD was VBAC. My doctor made his parameters VERY clear. You have to trust that he knows best.
I also know that they can BS. I still think I wound up with a Section the first time around because he was leaving for vacation and wanted me to give birth before he left. (He literally walked out of the OR and into a car headed for the airport)
Although, refusing to do it on Friday is a little fishy.
My OB only does scheduled sections on Wednesday's when he has the OR booked for hours.

Re: STILL pregnant! VBAC rant...
Pitocin is completely contraindicated in a VBAC and increases your chances of uterine rupture, I can't believe he is even suggesting that! I would just keep pushing him off and wait as long as your pressure looks good and youve been feeling movement regularly!

Re: STILL pregnant! VBAC rant...
I find it really hard to believe that he would be pushing to induce you with pitocin, especially after two prior c/s!! I can't wrap my head around it!
I was not allowed to go past 41 weeks when trying for my VBAC. I was not allowed to be induced at all.
When I had #3, I wanted to VBAC again, and when it came down to it, I had to have the baby early due to pre-e and he would absolutely not allow me to be induced for #3, even though I had a successful VBAC before and considering the fact my last c/s was 8 years before #3.
I definitely go by the belief that the doctor knows best. I trust my OB and that was that!
I wish you the best of luck!
