2 month old crying all the time - what to do?

Definitely try the hair dryer! DS will hang out in his rock and play while I shower and then the second I turn the hair dryer on it's like somoene flipped a switch and he falls asleep. Maybe it will at least sooth your DS.

Are you anti-pro pacifier? Sucking can be soothing for them.

I would also ask the ped about changing the formula. If there is iron in it, it can be rough on their stomachs and you may have to change it up... and if you think it is gas give the gas drops another shot.

But like everyone else has said, it won't last! Good luck!!!

does your dc have any digestion issues? what kind of formula?

We're currently giving him Similac regular, do you think we should switch to sensitive? I'm not sure if he has any digestion issues. He passes gas often, but it doesn't seem like an irregular amount...

In general, crying peaks in babies around 2 months, so what you're experiencing is pretty normal. Have the drs rule out anything medical, but it should start to decrease as DC gets closer to 3 months old.

My first son was like this! He calmed down little by little each week. By 12 weeks- much better! White noise helped the most.

My second son was easier. I feel badly for parents who have the crankier infant the second or third time around!!!

It won't last- and I am sure his personality will be fine, too. I was worried about that myselfChat Icon

Haha, that's what I told DH, should've stuck with DD, she was so incredibly easy to raise! *crossing fingers*

We went through this phase as well - hang in there!! I agree with the PPs...try vacuum, swaddling, basically the 5 S's of "happiest baby on the Block" to calm him down.

I'll definitely try the hair dryer.

A friend gave me a pacifier as a gift, and we tried giving it to him, but he only keeps it in his mouth if we hold it there. Otherwise, it pops right out. I ordered a different brand to see if that might help. Hope it comes soon.

i would try switching formula. all 3 of my kids were miserable on regular formula. my daughter was on gentlease and a different kid. my twins were still bad on gentlease then we tried nutramigen and they are the happiest kids now (and they have no allergy, they are just better on it).

Did you switch formula cold turkey? Or do I need to wean him off of the Similac?

Re: 2 month old crying all the time - what to do?

Oh! I feel ur pain! When boy twin was say 6 weeks old to maybe 12 weeks he screamed all day

He once screamed from midnight to 8 am!!!

We tried it all swaddle paci vaccuum etc

He had tummy issues and it took 4 diff formulas and gas drops and gripe water and baby yoga lol but he is better

I would def switch to a gentle formula,it def made the biggest diff, yes he is still gassy all the time but it comes out better now

He did not have to be weened we went straight to it

At 5 months now he is better

Hang in there!!!

Rent, borrow, or buy The Happiest Baby on the Block DVD. That man is like the baby whisperer. Turned of DD's crying
Like an OFF switch!

Try a baby probiotic! There are lots of safe ones out there on the market. It may take a few days but it might sooth the gut. Our DD had a pretty zen tummy and we think (!?) it was the probiotic, b/c all other babies in the fam were crazy colic monsters. Our pediatrician also recommend a tiny dose of maalox (1/2 tsp) to help that developing tummy two or so times a day...And another vote for The Happiest Baby DVD.

Re: 2 month old crying all the time - what to do?

My DD2 is two months and doing the same thing. My DD1 is four years old and I went through the same with her when she was around 2 months. It is very hard to deal with and some days I feel like I am going to lose my mind. With DD1 I spent many days driving up and down Ocean Parkway, lol. That was one of the ways I could get her to stop crying. The other thing I used was the swing. Not the one that goes front and back but also side to side. It was recommended by my ped and she practically saved my sanity. However DD2 won't have anything to do with the swing and she's only happy when I'm carrying her face out in my baby bjorn (even that is short lived). One of the best things that I used to do when crying got bad was sing. It distracted her for a few minutes and helped me get my mind back in order. Going for long walks shaking the stroller also helped. There is a light at the end of the tunnel although now it might seem tedious every day. Just know your not alone in this!

DD LOVED it when I sang, it always calmed her down - it still does. DS, however, starts screaming (even more than he already was). My mom says it's because my voice is awful Chat Icon The driving and the stroller only works for a short while. I'm looking forward to the end of the tunnel because it seems like a very long one!! Hope your DD2 has a short tunnel too!
