Kid friendly banking

Dh and I already have investments and 529s for our kids, but are now looking to open a savings account for our 8yo dd. We want her to start learning about saving and spending with her own money.

She'll be depositing her 1st Communion money to start, and then small amounts she receives as 'allowance' and gifts.

Can someone recommend a kid friendly bank? One that does not charge fees for keeping a very small balance? Are there any out there that have kid incentives, gifts like piggy banks, free coin counting, etc?

Thanks in advance!

TFCU came to our Daisy meeting and they seemed to be very kid-friendly with their banking products.

TD Bank has a young saver account. No minimum. Have an account there for both of my DD's.

Bethpage credit unions have great rates for their kids savings accounts. Better then td. They have coin counters as well free for members.

I would go with a bank that has a free coin machine - because kids like to collect change

TD has one and capital one

we went with capital one because of location - they have a free passbook account - so if you make a deposit with the book they see the amount and print out of interest earned - nice for kids to see

We use Bethpage also. They have free coin counting and when we did ds account they were giving a nice interest rate in his first $1000

DS have his account at TD Bank (He is 7). We started it a couple years ago, after a summer, because they have this program where they deposit $10 for an amount of books read through the summer.

We use Bethpage for our banking and our kids like going there for the coin counting. I also like the 1% on the first 1000.

Re: Kid friendly banking

capital one has a free coin counting machine and the kids like to dump their piggy bank change in there and then walk up the counter to make the deposit. Its a free account for kids, no fees too.
