Those with hypothyroidism : question about meds after delivery?
I was dx during this pregnancy, have hashimotos so i will need to remain on meds.
When did you readjust your meds? Did you notice any body changes after delivery? What were they?
I had my ds 11 days ago
I had a c/s so im not ignoring the fact that my symptoms could be related to that and not my thyroid. I did call my ob yesterday and he doesnt seem concerned that its related to my c/s
For the last few days ive had the chills, starting later in the day. Yesterday I had a temp of 99ish-100. At night im sweating, like ive never sweat before. I wake up soaked and can actually feel and see my clothes and sheets wet worse than when ive exercised. Im wondering if maybe my meds are too high now.
Thoughts?

I don't have hypothyroidism, but after both my kids I sweat like NEVEr before at night. For me, that was hormones.
Congratulations on your new baby!

I have hashimotos too. But I stayed on the same dose before during and after pregnancy. However when preg my tsh was .68. And after it was 2.3 which is more like what it was prior to pregnancy.
Congrats!

I have hypothyroidism, and also experienced what you are about 2 weeks after delivery. It was the hormones. The sweating was crazy. I did have to reduce my medication every three months pp and at 20 months pp still not where I should be level wise. It is a slow process for me.

I have hoshimotos too and also experienced the sweating. you should get your levels checked about a month or two after delivery because you usually need a lower dose after having a baby

It sounds like your hormones are leveling out, but I had my levels checked while in the hospital, at my 6wk appointment and then at 12wks. I was nursing and it was the nursing that I believe changed it all for me. Before kids I was controlled on 50mcg of Synthroid for years, but now 4 years later i'm at 150mcg. For me I notice super dry skin and really brittle hair.

I was not dilligent about getting it checked and can't help but wonder if thats why I produced next to no milk after 3 wks... And my TSH went up and I had to readjust from 50 to 75 mcg.

sounds TOTALLY normal for post birth. I had the same exact symptoms with Jack though I didnt have the chills or sweats with Grace. I dont think its related to hypothy.

G - he probably wont want to see you for 4-6 weeks. He will want your hormones to level out first call anyway but expect that!

Re: Those with hypothyroidism : question about meds after delivery?
I have hashimotos and have had it for years. DS is 9 days old and I have all the symptoms you described. The sweats are the worst. I wake up to feed him and am shivering because my clothes are soaked. I'd get my blood checked. I know with my other two DC's my synthroid needed to be lowered after birth.
