Introduction party for baby
Usually our family members have a christening party (after baptism) to introduce a new baby to our whole family. DH and I have decided that since we no longer follow Christianity, we will not be having a religious ceremony and subsequently, no party.
MIL asked if we were planning on having an introduction party in its place, and that got us to thinking. Has anyone done this or does anyone plan to do a non-religious party to introduce your LO? If yes, what would you call it?

Introduction party for baby
A sip and see! People will come over either to your home or restaurant and they get first glimpse of your bundle and you eat,drink, and they bring a gift.

This! We are having a Christening but I was thinking about doing this for our next child when I don't have a shower. We can have an open invite to anyone who wants to come to the apartment on a certain day to see and meet him/her since we're limited to our Christening invites.

My sister and Brother-in-law had a "Welcome to the World" party after the baby was born. They rented a rec room and had it catered. Everyone showered the baby with gifts and got to meet my nephew. It was a couple of weeks after the baby was born.
