another black tie optional wedding question
ok...so i am going to wear this dress, likely with this as a shawl, black peep toes, probably my diamond studs and a chunky silver bracelet
my husband really wants to wear his tux from our wedding. i think since it's black tie optional, and i am not wearing a gown, he shouldn't wear the tux. thoughts? Image Attachment(s):

Just because you aren't in a gown does not mean he can't wear his tux. If it is black tie optional and he wants to wear a tux then go for it. Your dress would be perfectly fine for even a full Black Tie event (again black tie does not mean you need to be in a gown).
Personally, I would go for a fancier shawl even though I do really like the one you posted!

Re: another black tie optional wedding question
DH and I always say if it's optional and he owns his tux then he wears it. He wears suits to so many things so why not where the tux if you have it. It's a nice night out so go all out if it asks.
We've been to a bunch of black tie and black tie optional affairs. I notice a mix of gowns and short dresses. Women can get away with either at a black tie wedding. As long as its dressy then you're fine.

yeah, I was thinking about that. I really do like the pop of color it would give though.

ITA with of all this, I would go for a shawl with shine/glitter if that makes sense

This. The shawl takes it from dressy to casual IMHO.

I agree with the other posters the shawl you posted is not appropriate for a black tie event. I think you need something more elegant. I think if your DH wears a tux you are going to look underdressed JMHO.

ITA. You should have no problem finding a more "dressy" shawl. Besides department stores, place like TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Loehmann's, Annie Sez, always usually have a great selection.

ITA with all of this. I would also do more sparkly jewelry than you described, especially if he's going to wear a tux.
