I would be going to the office in Brightwaters. Does anyone know how many doctors are in the practice?

Re: Madonna perinatal

I called the office in Brightwaters just to go see the nutritionist and the receptionist was beyond rude to me!! I would not go there if you paid me to. I was not aware that you needed a referral from a doctor to go there, even just for the nutritionist...not even for the high risk doctor. When I asked why, that I knew I needed the consult based on my history, she said, "because that's our policy!" So I said, ok well, I'm seeing my OB this afternoon and I know he will give me the referral, so can I just make the apppointment now? And she said no, you can call back after you see your OB. I just didn't think that was a way to treat somebody who knew what they needed and was obviously nervous about what was happening to her baby. Just really turned me off to them.

Re: Madonna perinatal

We had a problem with one of the genetic tests it had to be rerun and when I asked the genetic counselor her answer was "I don't know" to me that was a highly unprofessional answer. You do not call a 16 weeks pregnany woman who is walking on eggshells and say I don't know. I ha her all the lab and she still couldn't explain why. I finally called the lab and spoke with the lab genetics counselor Who was amazing!! The other genetics counselor, Barbara is a sweetheart and very knowledgable. She also followed up with me as well as I explained to her I was not comfortable with the other one after our first meeting.

The office staff (receptionists ) are also not the most professional. Not sure how the Mineola practice Is

I'm going to Stony Brook for my echo and have been happy so far

Re: Madonna perinatal

And the kicker of my story is when I was going to have my CVS done it all happened very fast. I was uncomfortable having it done with only speaking to the geneticist and not the actual doctor. My husband called to schedule a consult with the doctor and it took him 3 phone calls to convince the staff to schedule one. Without the consult I wouldn't have gone through with it. Doctor was great answered all our questions and spent a decent amount o time with us. Oh and then they charged up $175 to meet with the genetics counselor right after dr claiming I couldn't have 2 consult in one day. All the genetics counselor did was insurance paperwork and go per what my insurance covered!!!
I believe if the patient asks to see the Dr then they should be able to see the Dr not have to fight for a consult
But this was just my experience and I'm sure my anxiety did not help matters
Many people on this board are happy with the practice

Not sure how many Dr's are there but I Went there for my amnio and they were amazing.
The office is super clean, very modern and everyone there was sooo nice on the phone and in person.
I forgot which Dr did my amnio, but he was amazing. Such great bedside manner and really put my mind at ease because I was soooo nervous.
He was funny and made me laugh actually.
And the amnio was quick and painless.
Highly recommend.

I saw Dr Goldstien at the Brighwaters office for my entire 3rd tri. He also came to see me in the hopsotal when I was in during my pregnancy with blood clots. He is a no nonsense guy but super nice and not a rush you out type of Dr. I was at the office weekly and never had a single issue. The nurses were amazing. I had an issue when Dr Goldstein switched my from Lovenox to Heparin and I had an issue fillignit. The nurses called around to pharmacies for me.

I would rec them to anyone.

I have not seen any of the doctors there, but I go to the Brightwaters location for all of my sonograms which have been every 4 wks. And I saw the genetic counselors at both locations. I have been very satisfied with their service and find all the staff to be pleasant and accomodating.

Re: Madonna perinatal

With my first pregnancy I suffered from post partum preeclampsia and I realize now that I had warning signs in the 3rd trimester and they were completely overlooked. I don't want to take any chances with a second pregnancy.

Yes, you need a referral from your doctor. That's what my argument was about with them. My insurance does not require it, but they would not even make an appointment for me without a referral from my OB.
