Is this too little food?
For a 1st birthday lunch, we are expecting 50 people. Is this too little? also just so you know, we want to keep everything cold, no hot dishes.
4 different kinds of chips 2 different kinds of dips
12 ft heroes (four 3-ft heroes essentially) 12 lbs of some salad that comes with the subs 1 tray of potato salad 1 tray of coleslaw 1 tray of pasta salad 1 tray of regular lettuce-type salad
cupcakes pastries sugar cookies with royal icing maybe fruit platter
drinks-water, sodas, juices
so, is this too little for 50 people? and are heroes sufficient or do i need another main dish/meat of some sort?

Is this too little food?
You might want to add a little variety and include a vegetarian and gluten free option.

Re: Is this too little food?
Are there going to be any kids there?
As a parent, my only concern would be that little kids (the under 5 set) are picky and may not eat heroes and salads.
That's also an in-between age where parents may not travel with a full meal for their kid, but are expecting there will be something more kid-friendly to eat.
I actually went to a BBQ last weekend where one of the mother's made a tray of chicken nuggets and a tray of plain old box mac and cheese that the host just warmed up in the oven for a bit.
All the kids loved it. (Babies-around 7 years).

Agree with the above poster to either have a tray of nuggets and mac/cheese or maybe hotdogs for the kids. Kids generally do NOT like hero sandwiches in my experience.

What about a plate of finger sandwiches for the kids? You can even use cookie cutters to make shapes.
Peanut butter/Jelly Turkey/cheese Etc.

Re: Is this too little food?
I think because it's lunch, it's enough, in terms of amount and variety.
I would maybe vary the apps a bit - since it's all chips and dips - or include a few additional cold things. Maybe cheese and crackers, or cheese and fruit kabobs? Or a crudités to go with some of the dips? Or a shrimp cocktail platter?
With the side salads, I know that I am not that crazy about mayo-based salads, so I would make sure the pasta salad doesn't have a mayo dressing.
If you want to mix up the sandwiches, maybe instead of doing multiple heroes, you could do a hero or two, and maybe a platter of sandwich wraps? I've done heroes for parties and I always find it hard to save leftovers. Wraps seem to stay together more easily and can be easier to eat. And you can mix up the choices more with a wrap platter. Just a thought...
