Dix Hills vs Commack
Hello,
My husband and I are looking to move and we came across Dix Hills. I know Half Hollow is a great district but some homes in Dix Hills have Commack schools. How do Commack schools compare to Half Hollow? I know their state wide report cards are comparable but are they as good as HHH?
Any insight would be great!

Dix Hills vs Commack
I know 2 families that live in Dix hills but with commack schools and they love it. The kids did and are doing great (some already graduate and some are in middle school and high school). The school have lots of programs and school activities. I know another family that live in Half hollow school district and they also love it. I dont think you can go wrong with either district.

This is true but I think HHH has much more to offer in Athletics/Arts. It's a much bigger and more diverse district too. Would you prefer a smaller or much larger district? I live in HHH and love it but know many people in Commack who feel the same. Good luck!

This is what I heard too! These two neighborhoods are my list of poss neighborhoods!
We have friends who live in both and they says it is great!

I grew up in Dix Hills and went to Commack schools. I think it is a great school and an even better community to be a part of. Im also biased tho becuz i chose to stay in Commack. I know that it has ranked higher than HHH. But HHH is still an excellent district. However, they r shifting schools so u mite want to look into that before making a decision.

Hundredstilettos, Which town is shifting schools? HHH or Commack? I am assuming you mean HHH? How are they shifting?

They are both excellent districts. I think HHH is considered slightly better than Commack. I went to Commack and would definitely feel comfortable sending my kids there. We had plenty of extracurriculars to choose from and our arts departments were excellent.

This. I grew up in the area and went to events at both schools.
a PP mentioned size and both are large districts so I would not even think size should matter.

I am in HHH schools, I have friends in Commack.both great school districts...you cannot go wrong...
If someone in your family is working in the city choose dix hills....
In regards to HHH, they are redistricting for school year 2o14-2015... I am hearing we should know thing by October November... They hav a committee working on it this summer... They will probably be closing to schools because enrollment is down... But enrollment is down in lots of districts....

Redistricting could happen at any time really. I was in 2nd grade when Commack redistricted to their current structure.

The ranking I was usinng is from us news and world report and it has commack rated slighlty better
