Talk to me about the Diva Half

Where is it run? I know alot of you have done it before so I'm looking for particulars on the course. It would be my first half. I can probably run about 5-6 miles now but I have run up to 8 in the past. I'm by no means a fast miler but I'm willing to train up for the race.

Is it flat? I have bad knees so I'm a little concerned about all the running and how it will affect my body. I'm tri training right now so I'm used to running on a regular basis.

Any opinions about this specific event are welcome! Looks like its a blast! Chat Icon

Talk to me about the Diva Half

The diva was actually my first half too!! I really liked the race. It was a lot of fun. The course itself was kind of boring, but it was an easy and flat race. It's definitely good for a first timer. It was a little pricey though and like I said not very scenic, so that's the only downside. Overall though, I enjoyed it!!

Good luck!!!

Re: Talk to me about the Diva Half

Question for those who have run it. I'm under the impression that it's a lot of stops for getting tiara-boas etc. So it's a lot more doable, than running it straight thru.

Am I wrong or correct?

I thought it might good a good goal for someone I know, for next year.

Re: Talk to me about the Diva Half

You kind of jog through around mile 12 to get your tiara and boa.

Unfortunately from what I remember, there's only 1 set of porta-potties that you end up passing twice on the course. You can hop the guardrail to use it the 1st time you pass). With ALL those women, we had to wait about 10 minutes on line to use it which seriously affected your time if you stopped.

Can you run with music? I know some races won't let you.

there is only one stop for the tiara and boa (set up like a water stop) and that's not until close to the end. I want to say mile 12. I ran through it just like I did the water stops. It's a half like any other race. I don't think it was any easier or harder. There are plenty of competitive runners at these races. The only thing that made it easier were the lack of hills.

I am actually a little disappointed that there is only 1....I thought it would be motivating to get a boa, a tiara, maybe a bracelet or wand through out as motivation to keep moving Chat Icon

I was not a fan of this race. For one, I think it's way overpriced and while the course is flat (which I always prefer), it's boring. I remember it was so unorganized at the start, we got to the start about 15 minutes early and we could not even get in at the right pace marker because everyone was jammed in there. I ran it the first year, so it could be that they needed to get the kinks out. I'm just not a fan of "over frilled" races - I could do with a tiara at mile 12 :)

I think the Entenmanns (same weekend) is ten times better, just as flat, less money and much nicer scenery to look at. Plus Entenmanns goods at the end :)

I ran this last year ... I agree totally overpriced and the course was boring. My plan is to run the Entenmanns half.

I agree with this. It's not a bad race, but overpriced.

And I meant to say I could do WITHOUT a tiara, not with one LOL.
