Christening
I have two questions:
1- Is it necessary to decorate if you are having party at a restaurant?
2- is it customary for the god mother to buy the christening gown? My mom thinks it is and I never heard that before.

1- I will usually bring in some balloons and centerpiece on each table.
2- In my family, the Godparents usually buy the gown and jewelry.

Re: Christening
1. We just did balloon center pieces with pink and white linens.
2. In my family, yes the Godmother buys the gown.

2- it is customary for the godmother to buy the gown and the godfather to get the cross but not every family follows this. My sister (godmother) bought both (mostly because the godfather didn't know about this and i wasn't about to tell him "this is what you're supposed to get")

Re: Christening
I don't think it's necessary but it looks nice and personalizes it a little
My families tradition is godmother for the christening outfit and godfather for the cross Everyone is different

Re: Christening
1 - I had mine at home and didn't decorate and would in a restaurant either....but I am low key like that.
2- If it is customary in your family/culture then yes but no not everyone does that. IMO godparents are required to do anything btu be there day of and for my son as he grows.

Re: Christening
We're having it at a restaurant and I'm having watering cans hold the lollipop favors, as centerpieces.
My family believes the godmother buys the gown, however, my mom kept my gown and it looks brand new, so my daughter is wearing that.

Christening
We are having DS's christening next Sunday at a restaurant and we are doing centerpieces and balloons. My sister bought my older son's christening outfit, my best friend bought one for my younger DS. We didn't expect the godmother's to buy them, but they both offered.

Re: Christening
We had DD's christening at a restaurant & we decorated with low floral cp's but I don't think its necessary. I'm sure the set up will look nice even if you don't decorate. For the second question, I brought her gown myself but I have heard of that God parent tradition too.

1. I had a banner, centerpieces, balloons, and a picture of dd on the place card table. The linens and favors with tags were all color coordinated. The placecards, favors and tags were all thr same design
2. Its tradition godmother buys gown and godfather buys cross. Thats how my fam does it.
