Try to nap LO earlier of just don't nap them. I stick to nap schedules when we don't have anything to do around that time. Works for us since ds1 is in school at that time so ds2 naps. If we have something right at his nap time he doesn't nap. He does ok without a nap as long as he's stimulated. For birthday parties we go on time.

I don't know how long your children nap, but if you keep to the nap schedule you could miss the entire party!

DS is much younger still, but we nap him earlier and then leave the party early if he's tired/cranky. But we always go on time to the party.

How long does he nap for?
When things like this happen, I would push DC's nap up an hour if possible.

I never let naps dictate my schedule. I would just go to the party at the planned time and Ds would nap around it.

I would put DS down a little earlier and get to the party late. He would have been miserable (read we would have all been miserable) if he didn't nap.

Not sure how old they are but you could also push the 8 am nap later like to 9:30/10 am and then let them do one long nap.

Same here. When something conflicts with naptime, I just try to put DD down earlier, even if it's for a short nap, and then go on time.

Depends..now that she is older and has one very necessary nap...we once skipped a party because I know she can be a beast..when she was younger and had 2, I would work around it...

Usually I will try to do some activity earlier in the day to make him tired and then have him nap early. I would want him to get his nap before the party if possible so he's not cranky.
