I teach there. So basically they're amazing lol. No really I do teach a few classes there but it's a beautiful gym and the classes are great. You should come as a guest and check out my spin class next Wednesday.

Cool! I went on a tour yesterday. Seemed very cool. A little overwhelming. I had no idea it was so big! I loved the room for my kids and the crossfit type of area. I saw that they have the bikes that tilt for spin. never been on one of those. Spin isn't really my thing but if I join I'll make sure to try your class!

Re: Big Al's Family Fitness

I need to get my butt in there and take a tour.

I bought a membership to a yoga studio but rarely go anymore because I'm there on average 3 hours with the drive and if class runs over.........I feel so guilty being away from DS that long!

You guys are a 2 minute drive for me!

Re: Big Al's Family Fitness

I went on a tour tonight and signed up for the monthly plan.

I'm excited. I haven't been a member of a gym for so long but I've gained a lot of weight this year and need to do something about it.

There is a "crossfit" section in the back that has so many different pieces of equiptment that are amazing!! It's just a wonderful gym.

Yes! I love this and hope to learn how to use the equipment correctly. I love that you can open that garage door to the little outside area.

Re: Big Al's Family Fitness

I am a trainer there but I am looking to build my client base. I am currently offering free training. Let me know when you are there. I'll show you around some of the equiptment :)

Re: Big Al's Family Fitness

I sent you an FM and would definitely be interested in taking you up on your offer.

I have a lot of anxiety around trying new things at the gym. I know it's all in my head, but I'm the one who feels everyone will look at me for doing stuff wrong.

Last time I was a member somewhere I mostly just did cardio and a few of the weight machines. It seems like this gym has so much more to offer, and I would like to take advantage of that.

I also am trying to get my SIL and one of my work BFFs to join too.

LOL ditto! I feel good at the gym and feel like I'm really going to like it but def need to try things out before I feel more comfortable.

Re: Big Al's Family Fitness

Just putting this out here too.....if anyone is looking for a "gym buddy" to motivate you in going, I would be up for this.

I am not in great shape and I have a complex that I look like Elaine from Seinfeld in any classes that require a great deal of coordination.

I am really looking to just learn all the different machines and equipment so I can do myself and not look like a total fool.

While I would love to have a trainer, I've seen the prices they charge, and I know it's not something I can afford, even for the short-term.

Ideally, I will be going regularly around the 5AM hour. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

But I love the fact that it's not crowded and I can get my workout done and over before work so I can just come home and relax at night.

Re: Big Al's Family Fitness

I have been starting to get comfortable with the gym but so far am only doing classes. I've been going almost everyday. I have loved every one I've done. Monday morning I did a class and we did it on the outside area (by the crossfit section) and then she made us leave the gym and run down to the school and back twice. It was no joke lol! The Koga classes are awesome as well!

Unfortunately I can't be at the gym that early ever lol but I'm happy try to motivate you. I'm a teacher so I'm home for the summer. I've been going either after I drop DS off at camp or i take my kids in the evenings. I am also a bit self conscious and at least 30 lbs overweight but have felt really comfortable in the classes. I also can't spend the money on a trainer. Wish it all wasn't so expensive!

Re: Big Al's Family Fitness

I tried sunrise spin this morning and it was great!

I liked the instructor. She was very warm and welcoming to me and told me to only "try" the harder stuff.

One of the other students even gave me her stationary bike to start out on.

I am definitely planning to go back tomorrow night to try Tracy's classes.

Nice! I went to Zumba last night and kickboxing this morning (it was in place of Koga). Loved both classes. The Zumba was SO fun! It's a little intimidating but I just kept moving lol! I need to schedule my free orientation with a trainer.
