Would you turn down a job?...
...if your consulting assignment is coming to an end at dept. #1?
Dept. #2 wants you for a different assignment at the same rate but the commute to that dept.'s location is 15-20 minutes further.
Would you take it so you can continue working or give it up because they refused to give you a higher rate for the extra commute.

Re: Would you turn down a job?...
15-20 minutes further does not seem like a big deal to me.
Now if it was 15-20 miles that I may be sitting in traffic for hours for, I may weigh the pros and cons.
But if you need the job, I would not turn down work, personally.
You could still continue to send out resumes in the meantime, right?
Not the same exact thing, but I recently accepted a job offer for a longer commute and a pay cut and it was the best decision I could have made for my career.
