If you join the facebook page, under the files tab, they have a timeline and FAQ. The wife noticed that his mountain bike is gone. But I do not know how that is possible unless he had the bike in the car the whole time.
Unless the bike is a red herring...
Of course the best plausible scenario is that he went to the scrap shop, got cash and then took a train to xyz....but still doesnt answer the questions of why and how he could be be gone for so long without another sighting...i feel terrible for his family

A little off topic. But I find it crazy that the train station does not have cameras! Every station should.

There was just a story on the news about a woman who was just found, who up and left her kids and husband and was presumed dead all these years. It does happen unfortunately.

I read in that group that his car was set so it seemed he wasn't the one driving it, like the seat was in a different position.
It definitely seems like foul play to me based on what is being put out there.

Shame, embarrassment? People leave their families all the time without a note, only later to be found living another life. Not saying that is for sure the case here, but since the police believe there is no foul play, and these little tidbits that keep coming out....

DIX HILLS - The wife of a missing Dix Hills man is offering a reward in hopes of finding her husband.
Robert Mayer, a Dix Hills father of two, disappeared nearly two months ago. The union electrician was initially reported as last seen at his job site in Brooklyn. Through a police investigation and new leads, his wife Ida now says he was last seen on Long Island.
Ida says Robert was last seen at Arrow Scrap Yard in West Babylon on June 14. The next day, his car was found at the Deer Park train station, though Ida says he hadn’t taken the train to work in at least five years.

The couple has been married for 18 years. Ida says her 15-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter just want their dad home.

This happened to someone near my parent's house in DE. His whole family lived in the area and they owned a successful chain of restaurants. He was last seeing leaving his house going to work. No one really suspected foul play, but that maybe he was having depression issues, etc. Nope, he was in FL with a woman, just blowing off steam he said. He also had a wife and kids. It's hard to imagine, but it happens.

This is reminding me of a 20/20 episode on a few weeks ago. He was declared dead, but was really alive and established in Cabo.

IDK it's so weird. The fact that he left his wallet with all his identification home, that he just went to a scrap yard to sell copper, he left work early and his car was found parked in one of the train stations that has no cameras makes me believe that maybe he left on his own accord but then I think why?? According to his wife everything was fine. He has two kids...why would anyone do that? Makes no sense to me. So sad hope he is found alive and safe.

i read this.
we were driving home from beach at the time they found this. helicopter was circiling and my DH said, they are looking for someone. it was the ramp onto wantagh.
either way. sad.

I was thinking the same thing. A similar story happened with a family friend and he was found alive and well in a different state a month or two later. Money problems caused him to flee.

The original pic of him looked like it was in a casino......to me of all the pic I would have of my DH a pic of him in the casino would probably not be the first I gave for the missing persons photo.
