Thomas The Train $$$ Advice
My 15 month old son has taken a huge interest in all things Thomas and Friends. I went to buy him his first Thomas train at BRU the other day and was absolutely shocked at how expensive they are. Any advice on how to get these on sale or anyone interested in selling?
We just can NOT be buying multiple toy trains at $17 each!

Re: Thomas The Train $$$ Advice
Always check Amazon, their prices fluctuate and you can get some great deals sometimes, we surely have. Also check stores like TJ Maxx and Marshalls, even though it's hit or miss you can find things there also. We have lots and lots of Thomas so it adds up but you can def do better than BRU and TRU, we never buy them there.

Re: Thomas The Train $$$ Advice
Kohls has various Thomas items. Check online because the selection is better and the prices are pretty good, and even better when you use a 30% off code.

AC moore often does 50% off 1 regular priced item coupons. I usually print multiple coupons and drag my dh or ask my parents to go.

This is the best way to build up Thomas. They also run a 40% off Thomas sale at least once a month.

Re: Thomas The Train $$$ Advice
A lot of times people sell their lots on sites like Bayslist on Facebook. We got a table this way, and the seller threw in all their tracks and trains.

Thomas The Train $$$ Advice
If you're looking to buy the wooden ones, keep in mind that all wooden sets will work. So you can buy the "cheap" BRU wood tracks and then just suppliment with the Thomas buildings.
Also, if he ever gets into Chuggington, the wood ones will also fit on the tracks BUT they are taller and do not always fit through the underpasses/tunnels

The metal ones are cheaper.... And at that age my son loved any train. I got a regular set at IKEA for next to nothing. I suggest the buy and sell sites on Facebook for both the metal and wooden ones. I got 12 authentic wooden Thomas trains for $50. All were brand new in packages except for 2 of them. I used them for my sons potty training...

My friend got a bunch for her son at Once Upon a Child for a great price, but she lives out of state, so not sure if the ones around here have any. Worth looking into though.

Re: Thomas The Train $$$ Advice
I always did really well on ebay, TJMaxx and AC Moore, with a coupon or when they have their Thomas sales.
I have to say for all of the money spent, it is the only toys that well over 5 years later they still play with.
Also, for the tracks, I have yet to find wooden tracks that aren't compatible with one another. Imaginarium, Thomas, Melissa and Doug and a lot of other generic tracks all fit together.

Thomas The Train $$$ Advice
I bought about 20 fake trains from China for like $25 on eBay. That wasat the beginning of my son's interest. Now our whole lives revolve around Thomas, lol and I've spent easily over a thousand dollars. But the rip offs are a good start.

Re: Thomas The Train $$$ Advice
someone on the FB LI buy sell group has a lot for $50 includes track and over 10 trains. Could be a good way to start the collection.
We were lucky to get alot of hand me downs. The rest we bought at AC Moore with coupons.

AC Moore, TJ Maxx (hit or miss), and Craigslist are your best bets in my experience.
