Starting to potty train..advice?
How do you start out potty training?
I am going to buy Megan a potty this week. Just a basic one, no bells and whistles because she will be too involved with that instead of what it actually is supposed to be for.
Should I just put her on it at the times I think she goes in the beginning? Should I let her sit there with her clothes on first? Jump right into removing the diaper? I trained kids at work years ago but its so different when its your own.
Any advice?

Re: Starting to potty train..advice?
THings that work for us are:
1- Get a potty and let them sit on it, play with it, stand it in, whatever...so they are comfortable with it.
2. Try to get her to sit on it with her clothes on, read her a book. Start taking her into the bathroom with you and invite her to sit on her potty at the same time. They catch on to what it is all about very quickly.
3. Everytime DS used his potty, he got to pick a sticker to put on it. So we've got a pimped out potty now! One sticker for pee, two for poop. Then we upped the ante to a few M&M's when he took the initiative to start telling us when he had to go as opposed to us putting him on every hour.
4. With it being summer, put her in the backyard, with just a shirt on and bring the potty outside. Let her play and give her juice or water and then every 45 minutes have her sit on the potty. Way less messy that way!
5. Invest in the "Potty Power" video. Its like magic.
Good luck!
