Need help!! Need to set up kids' area

We recently moved into our new home. The kids have a playroom. Right now most of thir toys are on the floor and bins. I got 1 small bookself for their books. I feel like i can organize it better but have no idea how to They dont go in there because it's a dumping ground for things they dont want to play with.

So my question:

How do u organize your play area?

What do u have in here? Eta: got a 5 and 3 yo.

What i really need to have some kind of station for their art stuff. I havent bought anything artsy yet because i have no idea how to organize it.



Please share your tips. Really need help!

Ikea has some nice options for Art spaces. I would check their site. We have a book nook area. I bought some photo ledges from Ikea, and hung them on the wall. They display the books with the covers facing out (and hold quite a bit!). I added some cute decorations, a rug, some throw pillows and a little canopy. It turned out cute. So that's an idea for book organization in the playroom.

I have an ikea expedit bookcase with storage bins and a craft table and chairs from pbk. I would post a picture but the room is not finished yet.

I bought the storage bins from target and put labels on all of them with velcro (I made the labels on my computer, printed them out and got them laminated at staples). I got tired of all the toys going in the wrong place and pieces never with the right toys and my ds would never play in the playroom because he could not find anything.
