cranberry cocktail meatballs
I am telling my friend a recipe for these but I use ground beef but she wanted to buy frozen meatballs. For the people who have used frozen how much to get for 1 can cranberry, 1 bottle chili sauce. Also I usually cook it in the oven but other recipes online say in a pot. Do you guys cook in pot? She doesnt have a crockpot

Re: cranberry cocktail meatballs
I've made that recipe a few times and it calls for 2lbs of meatballs. I make my own mini meatballs then toss them in the pot with the warmed cranberry/chili sauce until they are heated through.
If someone were to use frozen meatballs, I would use a 2lb bag of them. You can put that recipe together any way you want........stovetop, oven, or crock pot.

Re: cranberry cocktail meatballs
I often make mini meatballs in the crockpot as a party appetizer, and will usually buy a 2lb bag of the "Cooked Perfect" Swedish, cocktail size meatballs. I've gotten them in the freezer section of Stop & Shop, King Kullen, etc. There are 64 mini meatballs in a 2 lb bag. I throw them in with 12 oz grape jelly and 12 oz chili sauce (but obviously cranberry works in place of grape jelly). They come out great!
I am usually a big fan of cooking from scratch, but I find the cooked, frozen meatballs to be preferable for this recipe. They hold up better (don't fall apart) in the crockpot with the sauce mixture.

I've made them on the stove too. I've also used a can of cranberry sauce and equal parts marinara sauce. I call them thanksgiving meatballs!

Re: cranberry cocktail meatballs
I have made this a bunch of times. I buy one bag of cocktail meatballs (about 40 or so in a bag) and use one jar heinz chili sauce and one can jellied cranberry sauce. Mix it all together in a slow cooker and let it cook for 4 hours on high.
