Paleo Diet
Is anyone else doing the Paleo Diet?
I was no/low carbing for a while at my doctor's advice and it was going well. About two weeks ago, my friend told me about the Paleo Diet and i've been doing it since then. I absolutely love it although i'm certain that i'm not doing it 100% correctly.
I feel great. I was suffering from severe stomach aches, pains and discomfort for a couple of years. I went for a sonogram, CT Scans, my doctor could not figure out what was wrong with me. Since i've been doing the Paleo, my bloat in my belly has gone down significantly and I feel great. Not only that, but I actually see the shape of my body changing. I've slacked off at the gym since June but these past two weeks, my body is looking more slender and just less bloated all over.
I'd love to hear of anyone else doing this, your thoughts, comments, advice. I'm very excited and motivated to get serious about this. I've been looking into local farmers markets, better meat, etc.
Anyone else?

Paleo Diet
Me too. I'm doing low carb .. Kind of like atkins but I feel it's a lot like paleo. I'm just not eating whole grains.
I'm on chicken , fish, meat, eggs, and some low carb veggies. A little fruit too but only as a desert.
I've lost .. I feel good.

Re: Paleo Diet
I'm currently low carbing,30 or so carbs a day. I keep playing with the idea of Paleo, but the thought of giving up cheese makes me hesitate.

You don't have to give up cheese if you go Primal.
I just started the Whole30 and I'm going to go Paleo/Primal after that is done. If anyone is interested, I started a Paleo group on FB with some of the girls from LIF.

Re: Paleo Diet
we (my fh and i) eat paleo, but we arent super strict. if we are out on the weekend and want something else, we have it, etc.
however, we both feel SOOO much better when we are eating paleo. he has a lot of stomach sensitivities/allergies and cramping, bloating is gone.
there are a lot of websites with recipes and the people here are full of ideas

Re: Paleo Diet
I love some good site recs for more information.
I have basically cut out most break, pasta, rice...except for some random things like if I have a can of soup, eat out, or really just crave something.
So overall I feel so great, & dropped wt too.
But I'd love to know if I should drop other things to further boost my overall health (I don't want to give up my oatmeal, cheese, yogurt)

Paleo Diet
You are not allowed to have dairy on paleo and if you do it should be whole and urn pasteurized from grass fed cows.

Re: Paleo Diet
I want to start this, but concerned about giving up my molk in coffee. Would it be a waste to do it if I continued with a small amount of whole milk in coffee.

I'll try it. My parents use Silk which I hate, and I'm actually avoiding soy so I'll try almond milk. Thanks!

It basically follows a diet similar to what the creators of diet believe our ancestors ate. Your diet is based around fresh fruits, vegetables, organic, pastured meat and eggs, nuts, seeds, fish and seafood. You aren't allowed to eat grains, gluten, soy dairy, white potatoes, legumes or most vegetable oils. The only sugar you are allowed is raw honey and pure maple syrup. There are different variations. For example, some people include quinoa in their diet and also eat raw, grass fed dairy products.

Paleo Diet
WOW!! Thanks for the responses ladies! I'm really excited to see this. I've given up the dairy "for the most part" because I still do have a bit of milk in my coffee when I go to SB. Great suggestion on the almond milk, I will buy some and keep it at work and just skip the milk when I order.
I'd love to join the FB paleo group! :)
This is pretty random but any thoughts on how to still get my Green Tea "SWEETENED" at starbucks? I've been avoiding it but really craving! That's the only craving I really have and im loving the Paleo. I'm never hungry, feels so satisfying to do something GOOD FOR ME. ;)

I also want to add that the Low Carb was really a struggle for me. I am much more comfortable with the Paleo. I like eating veggies and having the option of sweet potato (though I haven't had one yet!) but it keeps me much fuller and satisfied. Seeing the changes in the way I feel, energy that I have and body shape is really encouraging.

Oh Them I'm thinking it's not for me.
Like I said, you can have dairy on primal. Which, for the most part, is paleo with a few exceptions/inclusions.

There are a ton of books out there and I also subscribe to a lot of sites but the book I read, after doing a ton of research and reading of Amazon reviews, is The 21 Day Total Body Transformation by Mark Sisson. He's pretty much the "father" of the Primal movement. His big book is The Primal Blueprint but this is a shorter, more condensed, "cliff notes" version. He's pretty much a wackjob and talks all about this caveman Grog and I didn't need to read all that bs lol
