Possible Chemical?
Hi all, I am mostly a lurker and ironically, my last posting activity was from a few years back when I was last TTC and in a similar situation...
I have a DD who is almost 2, and DH and I decided to start TTC #2 last month. I didnt use OPKs or chart at all, but my cycle is very regular and I'm pretty confident that we BD at the right times. AF was due last Tuesday (one week ago). I took a first response test that day- BFN. Still no AF by Sunday, so I took another one and it looked negative also....but after staring at it, a VERY faint line showed up. I was on edge about the results, so bought a digital, took it that day, and got "Pregnant"! Wanting further confirmation, I took another First Response test Monday morning, using FMU, and it was still a barely-there faint line. This made me nervous, bc Id think the line should be pretty obvious at this point since Im a week late with AF and I did have a chemical when we were TTC last time. So this morning I took another digital with FMU and...it said "Not pregnant".
Im sad and confused. Seems like maybe a chemical, but still no AF or even any spotting, and I have all the pregnancy symptoms I had with my DD (bloated, tired, headaches, sore boobs, etc). Im going to see my doctor Thursday morning, but was just wondering if anyone had an experience like this in the past? Is it possible that the test is wrong somehow? It took us 9 months to conceive DD and it was definitely a stressful process...I was so excited thinking that we got lucky enough for a BFP on the first try this time, but now I dont know what to think. I just want an answer one way or the other, this limbo phase is awful!
If anyone is actually still reading this- thank you!!

Probably a chemical if you are now showing "Not Pregnant"... There really is no such thing as a "false positive" on a pregnancy test. I'm sorry, it really does suck. It's possible could be a false negative. I'd wait and see what happens with the doctor, but if you are concerned ask her/him to write you scripts for you HCG to be tested (this way you can have it checked today and Thursday to see if it is increasing).

Thanks for your reply. I agree that it seems like a chemical, I guess Ill just wait and see. The last time this happened, my doctor (at the time) was very dismissive about the whole thing and almost acted like I was crazy or making up the BFP. I basically diagnosed it myself as a chemical and never really got good closure, so it was very upsetting. It all worked out in the end because I was eventually able to conceive my daughter and dropped that doc immediately afterwards, but this is bringing back some of those old bad memories. I forgot what an emotional rollercoaster TTC can be!

The good thing about getting the BW is that you have documentation that it occurred. I'm now on my second early MC - the second one was only about 5 weeks and both have only been documented by BW (no sono's done, too early), so it made it easier for me to move to the RE quicker - which I'm now doing in October.

So sorry for what you are going through, hopefully it works out with the RE.

Me too... I'm half hoping that it just happens to stick between now and then, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
