Would you still tip?
Sorry this is so long...I am just pissed.
So I have been using Peapod for a couple of years. I've been singing its praises. However, today, I reflected on my recent transactions, and I've realized that they almost never come within the time period that I select.
About 25% of the time, they are late. They are not late by a few minutes...try an hour. Yes, someone does call, but I schedule the deliveries at times that I am available. For another 25% of the time, they come early. Sounds great in theory. However, if, for example, I schedule a delivery for between 4 & 6, it might be because I am getting home at 4. Then, the delivery folks want to know where I am. Well, I scheduled it for 4, so I'll be there at 4! Sheesh.
Today, I scheduled my order from 8:30-2. This seems like a rather generous time frame. They called to say the driver is running late (again) and will be here around 3:15.
I need supplies in that order to make something for this evening. My shampoo is coming in that order, so I can't even wash my hair b/c I ran out yesterday. Now, my time is going to be compressed by over an hour, and I'm really annoyed. I called to complain, and they said they would forward my complaint...but now I'm stuck. I am tired of tipping for awful service, but I also don't like to not tip.
What would you do?

I wouldn't tip.
I would also follow up on the complaint.

Would you still tip?
I wouldn't, and I would also ask for a refund on my delivery charge since it wasn't the time you agreed upon.

Re: Would you still tip?
Honestly, I would still tip. Usually the drivers are late due to circumstances beyond their control, like Sunrise Hwy being closed. The drivers can be delayed for hours and they still have to make all the deliveries..they are just going to be done late. Also, the trucks don't always originate from the store closest to you. Sometimes they are for several locations away.

This but I would tip. I would call and definitley ask for a refund. In addition I would try and find another service. If delivery is what you are paying for and the "service" is not being met then I would find someone else (I wouldn't go back to a girl who cut my hair short six times if I told her I wanted to keep it long)

I would ALWAYS tip. Unless the driver was an A-hole, rude and didnt care.
You are punishishing the driver. The poor schmuck makes, what? 10 an hour do the job? I would not punish the driver with no tip unless the driver was an a-hole once they go to my house.

Tip, it is not the driver's fault. This is wht I still go grocery shopping. I can be done in an hour without having to sit and wait and get annoyed.

This! I'd tip the driver, but call corporate and complain and ask to be compensated! It's not the drivers fault if they are being over booked with deliveries, traffic issues, etc.
I've been using ShopRite from home...you order everything online, and then pick it up yourself during a time you select. DH has gone twice now to pick up, and hasn't had to wait at all. They deliver to your car and load it for you. It's been great so far.
