Spotting early on - need some encouragement
Hi Ladies,
I have been using a different name while being on the TTC & Preg after Miscarriage board. I'm not ready yet to use my regular name again. I just needed some advice and that board is less active than this one.
I have one beautiful DD who just turned 2. She was conceived through IUI after 15 months of TTC with no known fertility issues found other than a slight morphology issue.
DH and I luckily got pregnant on our own in June much to our surprise but sadly it ended up being a chemical that ended the pregnancy at 5 weeks.
3 months later I am pregnant again (on our own). I was actually in the process of getting started with my RE for a round of clomid this next cycle, but got a BFP the other day. My RE did a beta on Monday (12 dpo) and the results came back at HCG 59 and progesterone 15. The nurse said that looks great. I did a repeat today and the level is 189 and prog 14.7. Again, she said it looks great.
Problem is, this morning after my blood test, I noticed I was spotting a bit. VERY light brown/pinkish tint to my CM. I told the nurse and she said it is extremely normal and not to worry. Of course, I can't stop worrying bc this is what happened when I had the chemical. Although, that time I don't think my beta ever got that high. She said my numbers are really good and unless it's heavy bleeding accompanied with cramps I shouldn't be concerned.
Did any of you have any experience with light spotting early on? How long did it last? Did you have it with more than one pregnancy? I know every pregnancy is different but with DD I had none whatsoever so I can't help comparing this time to the chemical. My sono is scheduled for Sept 9th and I don't know how I am going to stay calm until then. Especially if the spotting continues.
Thanks for listening and I hope I get to stay on here and chat with all of you for another 9 months!

I would have them repeat bloodwork, just so you know your levels are rising and it will give you peace of mind.

Spotting early on - need some encouragement
I have had this happen 2x so far this pregnancy and I am only 8 weeks. It didn't last long at all. I know once we did BD earlier that day. The second time I had some light cramping that didn't last long.
Sending you good thoughts.

Re: Spotting early on - need some encouragement
I have had spotting every week since the day after my BFP. I am 9 weeks today and the HB was perfect and baby was measuring ahead at my last sono. Not to say I'm not stricken with fear every time I see the blood (had it again today) but so far all has been well. I was told that it's coming from my cervix and that the cervix becomes more sensitive with pregnancy (of course then I went into panicking about incompetent cervix but that's whole diff topic!) GL!

Re: Spotting early on - need some encouragement
I had spotting at 8 weeks and it wasn't brown so it freeked me out a bit. But I am 2 weeks or so away from delivering. As long as you are not cramping I wouldn't worry and just take it easy.

Re: Spotting early on - need some encouragement
I had spotting the day after my BFP, and then again basically once weekly from weeks 6-9(would last 2 days or so each time). Have a very happy and healthy 15 month old!

Re: Spotting early on - need some encouragement
I tell this story all the time bc i really don't want people to worry like i did. When I was pregnant with my son I bled all throughout the first tri. it wasn't just light pink either...I was bleeding. I went to the hospital where they did a sono and said they saw a heatbeat and everything looked fine. Immediately after the sono i stood up to get dressed and thick red blood squirted out onto the floor. I was certain is was all over. I shouted to the nurse to help me and even she was taken aback when she saw the blood on the floor.
It was from a subchorionic hematoma. My son is a happy and healthy two year old.

Re: Spotting early on - need some encouragement
I had bright red bleeding just around 7w. No cramping, though. It came and went for maybe a week and then never returned. My DS turns 7 months on Saturday.
Try not to worry. Spotting is very common in early pregnancy. As long as you aren't cramping, your baby is probably just fine!

Re: Spotting early on - need some encouragement
I had spotting/bleeding from 5 weeks to 11 weeks with this pregnancy with some cramping. I went to the OB once I started bleeding. He wanted to confirm that it wasn't an ectopic. At that point, it was very early on so no heartbeat. They saw a hematoma (blood clot). The doctor took blood for a beta and another two days after that. The hematoma ended up clearing on its own. I am now 21 weeks pregnant.
Try to stay positive. Take it easy - no lifting, exercise, excessive walking, or sex.

Thank you all for your responses. The spotting went away after one day. I feel much better now but I won't really exhale until my sono on the 9th.
Looking forward to (and hoping I get to) chat with you ladies for the next 9 months

Spotting early on - need some encouragement
I had light spotting in the beginning. Turned out my progesterone levels were lower than where the Dr. wanted them to be so she put me on a prescription that I had to take every day until after 12weeks and then the spotting stopped.
