I'm very early on and have a question about spotting
First off congrats to all of you.
I just learned this past Monday by a blood test that I'm pregnant.
I've noticed dark brown spotting the Friday night before. Very light dark brown spotting it never touched my underwear I would see it only when I wiped.
It's a week later and I'm still noticing this dark brown spotting only when I wipe.
I told the doctors office on Monday about my spotting and they said its normal not to worry. But its like 4 days later and still spotting! I'm obviously very nervouse about this. I have an appt. for more blood work and sono on Monday. I feel like staying in bed all day.
Did you have similar experiences? How long did your spotting last?
Just some more info I got pregnant with IVF on Oct. 23rd. They transferred two fertilized eggs. The only think I can think of is am I shedding one of the fertilized eggs that didn't implant?

Brown blood is old blood, so it is fine. If the blood becomes red then call your Dr again.
Congrats

Re: I'm very early on and have a question about spotting
I spotted on and off for the first 2 months...totally normal! I actually only went to the doc because I had been spotting for 5 days and they did a blood test that came back preggo (I was still to early for a BFP on a stick). Then I continued to spot for 2 weeks, then it stopped for a week, then it came back for another week and so on for about 2 months. I have occassionally had a little more spotting still after certain activities like sex. As long as it's brown, you should be fine.

You could get yoru hcg levels checked just to be sure 2-3 dats apart-they should about double. GL-like everyone else said though brown blood is usually old blood

I would agree with this....are you still taking progesterone?

Re: I'm very early on and have a question about spotting
i spotted a lot too. i am only 8 wks right now but about 3 weeks ago i spotted mostly just like you described for 5 days straight or so. i called my dr. and was told as long as it's brown it's ok and normal. i wasn't convinced of course and was a ball of nerves. it disappeared then came back for one day, then disappeared and came back last fri-sun i called again and was told "normal". still not convinced i wound up seeing my dr. in the ER on sunday. after blood testing etc. i was happy to see and hear my baby's heart. this calmed me a lot! i had another appt. on wed. night and was told that the blood is not coming from the baby. most likely it is coming from my cervix which is apparently sensitive (whatever that means) since then no spotting! every time i go to the bathroom i am paranoid. don't get yourself too crazy over it but keep on top of it so you are not crazy with worry. i'll admit i wasted a lot of anxious moments and wish i had just relaxed a bit more. i am sure that everything is just fine! i wish you all the very best!

Definitely have your levels checked. I spotted every day from week 5 until about week 10 or 11..can't remember anymore. For some women it is normal to spot.

Re: I'm very early on and have a question about spotting
I'm going to have my levels checked on Monday. They said that its going to be a very important day for me.
I'm still taking my 1CC of progesterone every night.
I was so close of just staying home all day in bed but that would just make me even more nuts.
I just want this to stick be healthy and strong
Thanks for all your replies.

Re: I'm very early on and have a question about spotting
I've read that early on you may experience some spotting from the egg burying into the blood lining of the uterus. So I think you are OK I would just ask the Doc. at your next appt to be sure.

Re: I'm very early on and have a question about spotting
Any blood is scary. I will be honest, the brown blood could be anything...BUT...if it were a problem, you likely wouldnt have it for so long. Its actually a good sign your still spotting.
When a M/C starts out with brown spotting, it usually turns red and cramps begin within a day at most.....
So if theres no red/pink bleeding and no cramps...and its been more then an ongoing all day thing, but occasional spotting, I would say your gonna be ok.
They will check your Beta as well on your next visit. and Do a sono to check.

Re: I'm very early on and have a question about spotting
i was spotting on and off (and not very heavy either) for a week and a half before i called my doctor and she lectured me that i should have called her when i first saw the spotting b/c she takes it seriously. I told her that b/c it was light pinkinsh/brownish i thought it was normal and she said no, spotting in general signals something may not be right and its imp't to get it checked right away. So she did blood tests on me, and it turns out my progesterine was really really low and she had to put me on progesterine meds to raise my levels. its a good thing i went to her b/c i could have lost the baby if she hadnt decided to do blood work! I dont want to scare you as every doctors office is so different, i was jsut glad my doctor took it so seriously.
