Update:In the market for a new suv...bought...

We are a family of five so we want a third row but one that still offers a fair amount of cargo space. We looked at the Tahoe and besides the fact that was so much $$$, it had no cargo area if the third row was down. Not to mention an adult could not use the third row at all.

What do you have? Why do you like it? Next stop is looking at the Pilot, I think.

TIA for any guidance. Chat Icon

Update: We ended up getting an Armada but I think we totally got it on impulse. They got me!Chat Icon We are leasing with option to buy...leasing (mistake one, I think.) Haggled on monthly cost not really paying attention to everything else costly mistake #2! Bottom line is I like the car but think we got taken big time! We should have went for the Pilot and stayed more within budget. In the end, I think this way when the lease is over I will have to take a loan out for another 5 years to pay it off! I am DUMB!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: In the market for a new suv, recommendations?

I just got an Acadia and love it. I have 3 kids. I can fit comfortably in the 3rd row. We have pilot seats in the second row so 3rd is easy to access for kids.

My sister has the Pilot and LOVES it (so do I, lol). Lots of room and the 3rd row is super helpful. She has fit up to 8 people in there (including 3 car seats).

Have a traverse and love it! I have the captains chairs in the second row so the kids can walk back easily. I've had adults ride back there too. I keep a city mini, two of those folding camp chairs back there all the time and have room to spare for other stuff.

I actually looked at the Traverse today. It was nice inside. It is defiantly an option. If you don't mind me asking, did you put money down and what are your monthly payments? The salesman was looking at doing a lease to buy option. I just get so confused with the different options...

I had a 2010 Mazda CX9 that I recently traded in.
Has a 3rd row. Never had any issues.

I know they still make the model.

Re: In the market for a new suv, recommendations?

We have a pilot, and I like it a lot (its a 2007)....I actually LOVED it...thought it was roomy, economical for a larger car and had everything I needed....

UNTIL...I bought the odyssey..... I'm in LOVE!!! I know that some people are just NOT minivan people, but I was the same way. Swore up and down I could never drive a minivan but I can't lie...its AWESOME!! DH and I actually argue over who gets to take the van now. Its way more room and significantly better on gas. Drives like a car but has all the room of an SUV....

In the market for a new suv, recommendations?

Enclave or Traverse. If you can swing an Acadia Denali, they're gorgeous too!

By law there should be a period of time (3 days) that you can back outof the contact. If you have ONE doubt cancel the transaction!!!! You are legally able to.

At this point you have nothing to loose. Dont be upset that the salesman mihght be mad at you.

If you have any doubt cancel the car!!!!!!!!

Eta: I was supposed to have,y wedding at waters edge. The day after we signed and gave a 5k down payment we found out they were under investigation by the state. They were a ssholes but we got our money back 24 hours later.

You can legally cancel the contract for the car. At least google it "cancel contract in ny"

Eta2: does not apply to cars.

The sale and leasing of automobiles, one of the most expensive purchases made by many New Yorkers, is not currently covered under the Cooling-Off Rule. To address this, I have sponsored two pieces of legislation (A.5151 and A.5411). The first bill, A.5151, would give consumers a three day cooling-off period to cancel contracts for automobiles sales and leases. The second bill, A.5411, would allow consumers a one day cooling-off period to cancel such contracts.

Re: Update:In the market for a new suv...bought...

Did you sign any paperwork yet?

I just leased and I did fill out the credit stuff and left a down-payment.

On the day I picked up my Jeep, I had to sign the rest, which I specifically remember the girl saying "this is so you know you are agreeing to purchasing a vehicle".

ETA: Leasing does not mean you HAVE to buy the car either.

I know there are people who would never do it, and that's all well and good for them, but I kind of like the fact that we can get something new within the next 3 years.

We loved our last leased vehicle and probably would've bought out...........I spoke with my mechanic however and he felt that the model was still too new and as a result, was seeing lots of whole engine repairs after 70K miles.

I also feel like DH and I both work super hard, it's a treat for us to at least have a nice, new vehicle to be driving every 3 years.

(Again, to each their own though).
