kids and limos
My SIL is getting married and we are trying to arrange for transportation home. NYS does not require a carseat in a limo, but you are able to bring and install your own carseat. Has anyone ever done either option with their kids? My DS is 3.5 and my DD is 2. TIA!

Re: kids and limos
DD is 3 and was a flowergirl and dh best mad and I was a bridesmaid, this past Aug. We went litterally less than 1 mile from the house to the church so she came with me there. But then I had my sister drive her to the hall about 20-30 mins away.
Limos are to get in and out of to start, never mind in a dress, and bringing a carseat in and trying to install it. I don't think a car set would sit very well on the bench seating. I wouldn't trust it.
I am so glad my sister drove her b/c on the way, the limo was not packed with people so there was open room. Well the driver had to stop short b/c someone cut him off, and then he swerved. We all flew forward, and the girl sitting on the end of the bench actually fell off. Obviously, if in a carseat they would be more protected, but I'm not sure how tight you would get the lap belt.
Anyway, after all that, I wouldn't do it. I would either drive myself or have someone not in the party meet you there with them.

Thanks for the input! The whole family is in the wedding and the ceremony is at the reception hall. The kids are getting dropped off later in the day, but I'm looking to get home. I called a few car service companies and they actually provide carseats, so I think I may go with that route. You just cant take that chance...

All I can think about is that little girl several years ago who was riding in a limo on the parkway on her way home from a wedding when it was hit by a car going the wrong direction. She was tragically killed. I know anything can always happen, but why take the extra risk? I personally would either arrange for a car service with car seats or DH or I wouldn't drink so we could drive home. My sister is getting married in a few months and DH won't be drinking so that he can drive us home that night in our car with DS in his car seat.

Yea, I have that accident in my head too...I found a car service and it's pretty reasonable!

Re: kids and limos
I put our car seats in a limo more than once...it was a pain but I wouldn't be able to put my kids in it if there weren't car seats in there.

that was all in mind when deciding what to do with dd. Even in a carseat that terrible tragedy could have happened but maybe not. You just don't want to risk it. I am so glad my sister drove her, when all our driver did was stop short and an adult went flying off the seat.
For the way home I would def get a company that has seats like you said.
The other option is if you drop off one of your cars there early in the morning and 1 of you not drink.
