Eczema on baby's face - help!
My baby is 5 weeks old and has had a rash on her face that has been getting worse. It has spread a little to her neck and chest and small patches are on her arms and legs. I just got back from the pediatrician and she confirmed it's eczema!
She recommended using Cetaphil to clean the baby and Aveeno Eczema therapy cream to help. She also prescribed a mild steroid, that I am reluctant to use (but am also desperate to help my baby girl!).
Any tips or advice from anyone who has experienced something similar?

Eczema on baby's face - help!
Dd didn't technically have eczema but she did have patches of rough, red, bumpy skin on her cheeks. Aquaphor was amazing

Eczema on baby's face - help!
My daughter gets bad eczema. For her daily baths, we use California Baby Super Sensitive Wash. I won't use anything with parabens or sulfates. For outbreaks we use the steroid cream which clears it up in about 2 days. Also make sure you are using fragrance free detergent, softener, lotion, etc

My Dd has very sensitive skin and Cetaphil cleanser is SO mild, odorless, and really helped DDs skin. I also used aquaphor ointment and Eucerin cream on her small eczema spots.

My son had horrific eczema and I ended up needing a dermatologist, etc etc etc, so the only thing I'll add is that you should only bathe her around 3x a week so as not to dry out the skin.

I use the same, it's the unscented one. For after baths, I like the Babyganics Bye Bye Dry lotion or Aquafor.
Whatever you try, give it a few days and see how she does. I used Cetaphyl wash and Cream and Aveeno Eczema products and both made DD worse. I have a steroid cream but only use it when DD has a particularly bad flare up.
ETA-Whenever you give a bath, be sure to pat her skin dry and then apply cream right away to seal in moisture. I don't even put DD's diaper on, just dry and lotion up within a minute of getting out of the tub.

My son also has eczema. He was prescribed hydrocortosone and using aquafour. That did not work so he had to go to a dermatologist. She is starting him on a cream and an oil for his head. She told me to bathe him using just water and Dove soap. Hopefully this will work.

I used Cetaphil and aquaphor (still do at 9 months old). it cleared his baby acne/eczema right up. I also had an ointment for his cradle cap that I thought was for his face; so I used that for about 2 weeks accidentally but he was ok! That might have helped clear his skin up too.

My DD had eczema in all the same spots as yours. It didn't appear to bother her, so we didn't get a steroid cream. Our ped said we could try a steroid cream if we wanted, but it wasn't necessary. We switched to a gentler detergent and baby wash, dressed her in only cotton clothes, and tried different moisturizers. What worked for us was cutting dairy out of my diet (I was breastfeeding). Good luck finding your baby's trigger(s).
