Gyn recommendation
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a female gyn doctor that would be good for a teenager (first time going)? I went to one before but I wasn't that crazy about her. My daughter is nervous about going and I want to find a doctor that is particularly good with teenagers (and I think I want to change doctors too). Preferably in the areas around Stony Brook, Smithtown, Ronkonkoma, but willing to travel if that was the case. Thanks so much!!

Re: Gyn recommendation
Dr. Thomas Erhart and Dr. Sylvia Tufano. Their office is located on Rte 112 just pass Uncle Guiseppe's/PJ Cinema shopping center.
They have flexible hours and also have two nurse practitioners on staff who can complete exams. I find the staff to be friendly and helpful.

I use Dr. Erhart too, and he delivered my son. I usually see Theresa, the nurse practitioner, and she is super nice.

I dont have experience with the NP but Love Dr Soviero. She is really easy to talk to and on the younger side, mid-late 30s, so not too intimidating for a teen!

I go to this practice and have been going since I was a teenager!! (16) I've seen Dr. Escamilla & NP Tracy and felt comfortable with them both!

I went to this practice for years, but switched during my last pregnancy. ( I wanted to deliver at Stony Brook). I never saw Dr. Soviero but she was there when I was going. I'm suprised to hear good things about her. My friends have horrible stories about her. Actually I heard so many negative things, I avoided making appointments with her. I love that practice though, and highly recommened Dr. Rubin or Escamilla for your daughters first time. Haven't been to the new office but I heard it was really nice. Their old place was really nice too.

Michele Mayer is a midwife who works with Dr. Gustavo San Roman in Port Jefferson right on 347. She's so sweet and does everything the doctor would do. He's great too but Michelle woukd be perfect for a teenagers first visit.

Has anyone used Stony Brook Ob/gyn (Dr Lochner or Dr Welishar)? Someone has also mentioned those doctors to me as a suggestion.

Gyn recommendation
Is it possible to adore your gyn? If so, I do. Dr. Halpert at Personal Woman's Care in Smithtown. Dr. Sommers is also nice, just not as personable as Dr. Halpert.
Oooops, just re-read and say you were looking for a female doctor, sorry! For what it's worth, I always used female doctors, but tried Dr. Halpert based on recommendations from neighbors.

Thank you for all your responses! My friend uses Dr Halpert also and loves him. I had always used a male doctor too until he retired and then we moved to Long Island. I saw one female doctor since we moved here but I wasn't that crazy about her. This would be my daughters first gyn visit and she definitely wants to be seen by a female doctor.
