I finished my first 10k woo hoo! Chat Icon I haven't been feeling well the past two days but I pushed and made it. I ran 13 1/2 minute miles, I know that's super slow but I'm very happy with it. Only 4 months until the princess half marathon at Disney. Chat Icon

Howd you all do? Chat Icon

For the 5k that was supposed to be 3.2 miles and was actually 3.89 miles? Chat Icon Not great. I knew it wasn't going to be because I was under the weather last week and didn't jog at all, and really hadn't trained much. My own fault. 12 minute miles.

My husband on the other hand... his first 10k and he did 8:16 minute miles. Placed 9th in his division, I'm really proud of him. Chat Icon

How did you do?

At least they corrected the results to say it was 3.89! that must have been hard for those not trained for that distance though! Chat Icon

I did OK. Ran the 10k in 47:03, 1st in age group, 7th overall female. BUT that time was only 9 secs faster than cow harbor so i'm not that happy. course measured slightly long on my watch though (only 0.15 but that matters when going for PR). Did you husband think it was long?

Awards were cool: running vest, socks, and medal. Chat Icon

That sounds pretty great to me!! Congratulations! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I know you'll always have a thirst to do better, that's what probably spurs you to do this well in the first place, but I think you should be proud. Chat Icon

My husband thinks that his Nike app has been miscalibrated and that he's been running longer/faster than the app has been telling him all this time. So the 10k was actually less than a normal day for him, which is why he thought he shaved 2 minutes off his best time, since he wasn't running as long.

His right heel has been bothering him for a while, and I'm hoping he figures out what that is caused by and works on it. Because it sounds like he's really into this now and will most likely do another 10k and then possibly start training for a 1/2. Someone mentioned planar fascitis and bone spurs? Not sure. He needs to do something about it though.

My app said it was a 4.02 mile run for me. When my app said "3 miles" in my ear and the park was nowhere in sight, I knew something was off. LOL

I met my goal of running half of the 5k straight, then I knew I was going to have to walk some. So I walked and ran. Overall I say that I probably ran 3 miles and walked 1 mile. I wasn't super happy with my time, but with the added milage, it made more sense. I'm hoping my next race will be better.

Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of increasing my pace, so I've been stuck between running 1.5 - 1.75 miles in one shot. I've shaved 3 minutes off my mile over the last month, so I'm hoping to add mileage now that my pace seems to have settled a bit now.

That's exactly what we did. We walked when we got to the first water table, for a few seconds.

There's nothing wrong with working your way up and it sounds like you're doing really well. What app do you use? I used jog tracker and it counts off for me as well but I had my music blasting Chat Icon

I use the Map My Run app. I also use the C25K app simultaneously because I like seeing how many minutes I've run bc the numbers are bigger. I don't have an armband at the moment, so I run holding my iPhone, so the C25K app lets me play my music without it constantly changing songs bc of the bouncing.

Thanks for the encouragement! Sometimes I get down on myself because I feel like it's taking me so long to increase mileage, but I know that increasing pace is important too.
