maternity leave for 2nd DC
With DD i took a 5 month (it was 4 months with the option to take an extra if i wanted and i wanted it) maternity leave. My boss was totally fine with it. I am now about to tell him next week that we are expecting DC #2 and I am not sure if i should ask for the same or just 3 months or 4 months...
Did you take the same, longer or shorter for second DC?

maternity leave for 2nd DC
With DD1 I took a year, but I cannot afford to do that this time. I have 12 weeks (8 paid), and then two months in the summer (I'm a teacher). Total leave will be 5 months.

Im taking the same amount, 6 months, although I will be paid for less of it this time than I was with my first (we use our comp/accrued vacation time) since I couldnt save as much

Longer with 2nd..
DD - 4 months
DS - 5 months, but after 3 days at work the Federal govt shutdown and I got three more weeks with him and DD.

I took roughly the same amount of time. About 4-4.5 months. I was going to return after the standard 12 weeks after DD#2, but she was very sick, and I just explained to my boss that I just couldn't leave her in that condition (severe reflux, possibly needing a feeding tube, weight checks every 3 days, etc...). He was fine with it. This time, I'll probably take less, as there is no $$$ after 8 weeks.

It was about the same: with DS I took 3.5 months and with DD1 I took 4 months.
