Favorite brand for running shoes?
Shopping around, looking for good shock absorption. I tried on a bunch of brands at dsw and so far Adidas seems to be most comfy on me but I'm not sure how they would be actually running.

I've worn Saucony for years, but this last model was not working for me, so I recently started with Brooks. However, what works for one person may not work for another. If you are considering getting into running you should visit a good running store (Runner's Edge in Farmingdale is great, but there are a few others) and have them look at your feet, your arch, how you run, etc. and help you decide on which pair works for you.

You really need to get fitted. I go to Urban Athletics in Manhattan, definitely the best there. I think for more cushioning, Asics are great. I'm getting into more minimalist shoes though and I love Mizuno Wave Inspires.

Favorite brand for running shoes?
Asics.
Even after I was fitted at a running store (they suggested Newtons), I ended up going back to Asics. They are my favorite by far!

Add me to the Asics fans. I've tried Asics, New Balance and something else I can't remember. I have gotten fitted in the past and know what I need now.
I just bought a new pair from Dicks sporting goods last week. Exact same model as last time (GT-1000 2) and I'm really happy. I tried the cumulonimbus but found them too tight. Too bad, the cushion was even better than mine. Salesman told me it has gel throughout the shoes as opposed to mine which is only in the heel.

Thanks for all the input! I'll definitely try on Asics and saucony. Maybe I will go get fitted somewhere. I just jog a little, but id like to start running more so I defintely want to have a quality pair of shoes that fits me well.

i don't go into my running store with a brand in mind. i go with what feels best... it just so happens that the shoes i always end up buying are New Balance
