"The wall"

I feel silly asking but I'm expecting to hit a wall during some point in this marathon, and since I have never experienced this I have no idea what to expect. Did you hit the wall? Does it always happen? And what does it feel like? Is it more mental or physical or both? Any advice how to get past it? Anything you can share would be great.

Thank you!!!

The wall for me was this weird feeling I got throughout my body, but mostly my legs around mile 22. Its hard to describe, but basically I just needed to pull over and give each leg muscle a good deep stretch. Then the adrenaline of almost finishing kicks in and you just do it lol

if this is what it's like, DS and i have hit the wall before. the two times we went out for 20 miles. a good stretch of the calves and i was fine, DS needed a little more TLC. he just wanted to curl up in the fetal position and cry. i'm going to have to figure out how to motivate him in the last few miles!

Re: "The wall"

I definitely hit the wall, around mile 19 or 20, I just felt like my muscles were done, and my calves started to cramp. I had a lot of Gatorade & walked slowly to recover for a little while, then felt better & was able to run again. I definitely needed to take that little rest though to get through it (probably should have trained better).
