Best winter coat?
I need to buy a new winter coat for my almost 4yo son. I don't really like the look of the puffer jackets, but I want something warm, yet thin enough to be safe in the car seat. What do you recommend?

Best winter coat?
I buy DS Northface, which is still kind of puffy but not too much and is still warm. But I still unzip for carseat.

Re: Best winter coat?
Pretty pricy but I like that it's a 3 in 1 and not puffy yet warm.
Lands End
LL Bean
Ohh Childrens Place has a 3 in 1 for nearly half the price.

Re: Best winter coat?
Another Lands End Squall user. It's super thin but super warm & has expandable arms so they don't grow out so fast

Re: Best winter coat?
We've used the Gap Warmest Jacket for the past 2 years & loved it! This year, ds is using the Children's Place 3 in 1 (got it for a great price last year & was curious about a 3in1 so that is why we switched) & I love it as well! Both coats are very warm & ds fits fine in the car seat with either coat.

Just looked at their site and I definitely like that jacket! Do you get the jacket or the parka? I can't really tell what the difference is except it says the parka is 2 inches longer.

This... I buy every year im july when they are on clearance for under $40.00. Not sure how.much they are regularly, but they are very warm and work in the car.seat. Also, the sleeves can be let down so they can grow; ds wore the same coat two years in a row.

Re: Best winter coat?
Squall lover here...I got the longer one for my 4 year old because she's super tall. Sorter for my 2 year old. I Like the longer one a little better. They wash great and really hold up.

Re: Best winter coat?
The Lands End coats are nice quality and they are tough. I don't use them in car seats though. Still too thick. They each have a fleece (patagonia and north face) to wear in the car seat.

Best winter coat?
Those 3 in one coats are way too thick to be used in the carseat. Put your kid in it with the carseat on, then take them out, take the coat off, and put them back in. You will see how much slack there is in the straps. Dangerous!

Re: Best winter coat?
He has one from Kohls and one from Walmart. They both had a zip out liner. I used the liner when he was in the car seat. Super thin and fleece lined for warmth..

Yes. The sleeves can be let down too for extra length. She gets 2 years out of them. But she's pretty tiny.

I did this the other day and was at how much slack there is in the straps.
So for the rest of the winter - he will be riding in there with no coat and I will leave a fleece blanket in the car to trhow over him once he's buckled in.
That plus the automatic start shouldn't make it so bad for him until the heat starts pumping.
