I used to use sponges too but a few months ago I started using the Bare Escentuals foundation brush when applying either Bare Minerals powder foundation or my liquid foundation and I LOVE it. I find it makes a huge difference and blending the make up in seems so much easier! I definitely recommend trying a foundation brush.

I just use my fingers. I get better coverage that way. I go over it with a sponge when I am all done- just to blend and wipe off any areas where it may be settling into fine lines and pores etc.

Ditto. I used to use sponges, but I ran out and used my fingers one day and felt like it blended better. Or maybe I just had better control? Either way, I like it better.

Re: Spinoff to Brushes - What brushes do you use for
I start by using my fingers, and then I brush in a downwards pattern with a foundation brush to finish my face. I use the one with the black handle by sonia kashusk from target. I also make sure to clean my brushes at least 3 times a week and lay them flat to dry.

How do you clean your brushes? I'm so bad about this!

I go back and forth between a few things, but I like this one:
Real techniques expert face brush
Synthetic brushes clean up easily--I use Dr. Bronner's.

I use warm water, liquid soap, and then with the grain of the bristle press them onto a wet bar of soap. I then rinse them in clean water and reshape them. I use a clean tissue to remove excess water. I lay them flat to dry on a towel. If you stand them upright too soon you can make the glue holding the bristles come undone. Occasionally I will also use rubbing alcohol to do a deeper clean.
