Westchester Moms?

Hi all,

I recently moved to Westchester and can not find any fabulous chat boards like this one. I'm looking to meet some people with babies around 1 year old in the lower Westchester area.. Larchmont, Mamaroneck, rye areas.. I signed up for meetup.com and everything always seems to be a hike or during his nap. If anyone has any friends or knows of any groups I would really appreciate it. If anyone wants to message me that would be great too..I could give you my Facebook info..Thanks so much! :)

Hi Beth!
I'm in westchester! We live close to mamaroneck & have a 2 and 3 year old.
I WFT, so have a crazy schedule & don't have too much time for playdates... But you never know! Maybe our schedules will match up.
I recommend weewestchester.com (more a blog) and the Gymboree in hartsdale (Especially classes with Shane).

Westchester Moms?

Hi! I live in Westchester too (Hartsdale) and I have a 19 month old DS. I am always looking to meet other moms as I don't have many friends in the area. Feel free to FM me!

Re: Westchester Moms?

I live in White Plains, and my boys are older, but I grew up in this area. Have you tried doing library programs or music together?

I been to the library classes a million times but now his nap is during that time...everything seems to be at 10/1030 which of course that's when he goes down for his snooze...

I haven't seen music together...I thought that was a long island thing...

You are doing the right thing. Most moms I know in the area don't work (makes it hard for me to stay friends because they want to hang out on a Tuesday afternoon when their hubby is working, so we end up hanging out occasionally after work or with our hubbies).

Keep at it. I've met lots of moms at playgrounds (yes: I don't have a swing set) & just by walking around my neighborhood. You may have to go to a different playground. The one by Kensico dam has a really nice assortment of people.

I say "hi" to new neighbors (and they pretty much always have kids). I actually walk up to people a LOT. Made me 2 good friends in my neighborhood (both SAHM) & I reconnected with a friend from college who lives in Yonkers. It's a bit of a drive, but we hang out whenever we can arrange it.

Gymboree on a weekday is another way to find the non-working crowd. My Gym is close to you, but I don't know the crowd. I DO know my neighbor goes there (& she's a SAHM with 2 kids). The Saturday/Sunday group are usually working parents.

Also, remember, if you are in an area with high taxes, people usually move there from NYC when the kids turn school age, so it may be hard to find a mom with a single 1 year old!

I'd prefer with. It is more hectic, but...I'm without them too many hours a week as is!

Westchester Moms?

I didn't realize there were so many of us. I am a Lower Westchester (Port Chester) are WFT mom and have the same problem. Lately, I have met more moms at some events my company participates in for Moms/Families. We are having an event tonight in Greenwich, CT. It's free for everyone, kids are welcome and we'll have snacks, refreshments and giveaways. It's at a kid's store so kiddies will be entertained. If anyone is interested please FM me.
