I think I called in 2 days and was called to appear the 3rd day. I got dismissed the same day thankfully. LOL It all depends on your juror #

Re: Jury Duty question
Usually they say you have to call in for one week. If they get enough jurors earlier in the week they will dismiss you over the phone.

Yup. There are times when I've called the full week and there are times when I've called twice and then been released.

Jury Duty question
One week unless told otherwise.
DH and I both got summons for Jury Duty 2 years ago - he got called in on the 5th day (he almost forgot to call in - thankfully he did). I got called on the first day and was excused after a couple of hours.
It surprised me because everyone I had spoken to just called for their 5 days and never had to go in.

Re: Jury Duty question
I called the Friday before- up until that Thursday. So 5 days. If you aren't called in those 5 days you are done. I got lucky- TWICE now. If you have a high number you just might get lucky!

Re: Jury Duty question
It depends - federal jury duty, you are on call for 2 weeks (it used to be 30 days). I've gone the entire first week and part of the second week without being called and then I have to appear.

Jury Duty question
It depends - I had Federal jury duty in Brooklyn. I had to call about three days and then show up (with hundreds of other people) and fill out a questionnaire. Then I had to continue to call for several more days before I was released. Regular jury duty (county) is usually call for one week and if you don't go in, you're released.

Jury Duty question
I think typically a week. Just a heads up, last time I thought I was in the clear bc I had a high number and they weren't calling many each day. Then for Friday they called suddenly called in a huge group and I ended up having to go. Thankfully I only had to stay half the day and then got to leave and was done.

Re: Jury Duty question
I live in a different state, so I'm not familiar with how things work up there... down here if we get summoned, we can call in to see if we're required to come, if they say yes, we have to show up for the whole day in case we get called. If we're not called, they dismiss us from the jury room.
It sounds like once you get called there, you call in every day to see if you have to come in every day? If they say yes, does that mean you're on a jury? or just in the pool for that day?
