Spinoff: Real trees for Christmas
When do you get yours?
My BF's family does real trees and we go and cut them down. This year, they plan to go Dec. 14, which seems so late to me. All that decorating and I want to enjoy it! They told me if we do it earlier, the tree will dry out (I'm jewish, I have no clue  )
When do you get your real tree?

We usually go by December 10th. We don't cut down our own tree though, we go to Home Depot or a local nursery.

The second week of December usually.
Not only will it dry up, it will have your ornaments on it which will fall to the ground & shatter.
To get the Christmas lights off, you will have scratched, sap-ridden hands so badly that you will drag your tree bahhumbugging all the way with the lights still on to the curb for garbage pickup & promise to buy new lights next year.
Then your husband will come home & inform you that the garbagemen will not take trees with lights on them. Then you will consider wirecutters until you realize it won't work.
and you will hate Christmas.
Next you will blast inappropriate music -and definitely inappropriate for the holidays - for the next hour while you take off the lights.
You will also curse the fact that you married an electrician but still have to deal with the lights on the tree. Oh wait, that's me, not you.

Last year DD was sick, so his parents cut one down for us and brought it to us. It was so nice and we didn't have issues decorating/undecorating/ornaments breaking, but I felt like we only had it up for 2 weeks and I wanted to enjoy it more! This year, we have a dog...and I have no idea how that is going to work out either

It totally depends on if you are getting it from a store or if you are cutting it down yourself. The trees from a store have been cut down for a while by the time you buy it. In that case, yes, the 14th makes more sense...
We cut down our own and they last much much longer... Last year we went dec 1st and the tree still looked great by new yrs! This year bc of a late thanksgiving, we are going on the 7th.

We cut ours down and will be going Dec 4th this year. We've done it around the same time the past couple of years and the tree has stayed in great shape until after Christmas.

We usually go around the 15th. That seems right on schedule.

We will be going the 14th or 15th depending on weather. I don't like to keep a live tree more than 3 weeks even fresh cut they so get dry and can become fire hazards.

Ha ha my Dh is an electrician I totally get it!
I get mine after thanksgiving and it last till New Years! I never had an issue with it drying up?
